Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

The sensor lights are steady. The opener cycles fine withouit the garage door connected. Everything worked fine until yesterday. I hit the open remote and the garage door did not open. I hit close and it went down and closed and popped up about 2-3 inches and stays there. It will not open any more then that or close completely. What is going on??

Remove the cover from the motor unit and check the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. Also check the door springs. One of them could be broken.

Garage door opener not working

Sensor must show steady light to close circuit and let opener work. If aligned, then there is a loose or broken wire. Try reaiming first to get steady light. Then check all wires . Another way to test and prove that is the issue is if u hold down the wired button at ur back door and the opener closes, then it is sensor issue. Good luck.

Liftmaster 1345, sending light is on, receiving light is not on, door will not close, light blinks 10 times, why??

Because we live in a free country the government says garage door openers manufactured after 1993 have to have an inferred safety reversal system (UL325).
You need to adjust the receiving sensor until you have a steady green light, then the garage door opener will function properly again.

It sounds like you have a loose connection. Pull the logic board and check for bad connections especially around the small transformer.

It sounds like there might be a loose wire connection on the inside of the sensor. You could also be moving the position of the sensor slightly into alignment when you squeeze the sensor. You will need to disconnect the wires for the sensor on the garage door opener or disconnect the power. Then use a flatblade screw driver and carefully seperate the sensor case. Check for any loose connections on the wiring(you might need to re-solder the wire to the sensor eye). It sounds like a loose wire connection to me.

Craftman Garage Door Opener Quit Working.

It could be a bad logic board especially if you have had any electrical storms in the area. I would remove and check the logic board for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit board.

Remote control opens garage door but will not close door - craftsman 53990d

Have you checked the sensors? There is an electric eye type sensor- send on one side, receive on the other, usually located knee height or lower. If something is blocking it, or if they have been bumped and are not in line with each other, the door will not close. It is a safety check to keep the door from accidentally crushing anyone or thing that might be under it. On one, there is usually a tiny light that is steady if they are in contact, or it will blink if not. If blinking, just line them up until the light is steady.
There is a little wire attached to them bringing electricity and connecting them to the opener. If the sensors are connecting or are not lit at all, check that this wire is connected to the sensors and the opener.

Main light on will not come on when door is opened/closed

For some reason, the bulbs I tested that worked somehow didn't work correctly when inserted into the door opener. We opened another set of bulbs we purchased and what do you know, the light now works. I don't fully understand as the other bulbs did work just not in the garage door opener.
