Question about Dell Latitude E5400 Notebook

I have a Dell Latitude e5400 that I can't get to display to my tv. I am using the S-Video out to my tv and it doesn't work. Why is this?

Because you have to configure it in the Display properties before using it - set it as a second screen with the native resolution of the tv.

SOURCE: How to replace backlight on a latitude e5400

Please check the Backlight in BIOS. To go to BIOS, restart your system and start tapping the F2 key. Check if the backlight is fine or not. IF not , you need to get the LCD replace.

You have to look at the cable connections on both your TV and Laptop. They should both have the same HDMI connector.
Check your Dell Manual to see which connector is the HDMI

How to activate bluetooth using wireless switch


Step 1 Find the wireless switch, located on the front of the E5400, to the left of the touchpad.

Slide the wireless switch into the "On" position to enable wireless radio communication on the Latitude.

Right-click the Bluetooth driver and then select "Enable" from the context menu, if available.

Navigate to the Dell Support website in a Web browser if the Bluetooth Adapters category is not listed in Device Manager.
Step 6
Click "Start Here," then "Drivers Home." Click "Choose From a List of All Dell Products," then "Continue."
Step 7
Click "Laptops," "Latitude," then "Latitude E5400." Choose your operating system from the associated drop-down menu.
Step 8
Expand "Network." Click "Download File" next to the Bluetooth driver, then "Download Now."

Launch the EXE file when the download completes. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Bluetooth drivers to the computer.
Step 10
Restart the Latitude following setup to begin using Bluetooth on the E5400.

I purchased a Dell Latitude E5400 on Ebay and I can't use it because there is a system level password set ... Not Administrative PW... What can I do? I read about Dell's Password Recovery...


In many cases, the system password can be removed by removing the battery, and the BIOS battery.
This will involve opening up the device.
you may wish to take it to a dell service center.

My dell latitude e5400 mouse pad is not working/ locked..need help


I want to believe it's a driver problem. Please use a USB mouse, use the mouse to go to
  1. Right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties.
  2. Click the Hardware tab and press the Device Manager (then Right click the Pad and update driver)
- Navigate to C:/Dell/Driver and look for driver
- Insert DELL recovery DVD and look for the Pad driver to reinstall
- Restart the Computer after

If you are not using it, uninstall Dell Control Point Connection manager, then the Window Wireless configuration will function normally
