Hi, i've fixed the same problem with my fan. I?m not suggesting that you use my fix, but this is what I did:

It turns out that the red wire going into the fan motor has an inline mini fuse built into it. I had to remove the motor and open it up in order to get at the mini fuse.

I guess the manufacturer really made this one with "no user serviceable parts inside" unless you are a technician or have a technician friend.

What I did first was to check continuity between the motor windings. With the motor wires disconnected, I measured about 30 ohms between the red wire (return) and the other separate motor winding wires: yellow, blue and black. Since the red wire didn't have any connection to the other wires, bingo I found the problem. The windings don't have a return path to complete the circuit. I then had to open the motor to fix the problem.

I was sure to mark the motor housing with index marks to insure correct reassembly after the repair. Once I had the motor apart, I was careful not to stress the motor windings. They are very fragile. I carefully cut away the black shrink tubing on the red wire (this wire is the common return for the 3 speed motor). This revealed something that looked like a resistor between the red wire and the other motor windings. It is actually a 10 amp mini fuse.

I didn't have a replacement fuse that would fit inside the motor as the original so I soldered a jumper across the fuse, covered it with shrink tubing and put an inline fuse holder on the red wire outside the motor. If the fuse blows again, it will be easy to replace. I replaced all broken plastic cable ties that held the windings or cable harness in place.

I then cleaned and lubricated the motor's bushings. I used white lithium grease. The friction created from dry bushings is probably what caused the fuse to blow in the first place.

I reassembled the motor. The motor armature should spin freely if reassembly is correct. If not, redo.

This seems a little long, but it actually worked. The fan is once again pushing that cool breeze.

Also, a note to technicians; a pretty decent application circuit and schematic of the fan?s controller unit IC (SC8207) can be found in pdf format at: http://www.silan.com.cn/english/product/pdf/20090402103358633742652383299234.pdf

Take care

thanks for the remedy, however, lets pretend that I'm not an electrical engineer. I'm having difficulty removing the housing let alone reconfiguring the motor.
Is there a repair manual available with pictures?

There is no repair manual with pictures. I have never come across one..

Hunter fan works light broken

Check to make sure light wires are connected at light kit & remote. Otherwise it's probably a bad receiver. If there is a pull chain for the light pull it once & try the remote light button again.

Remote quit working for litex ceiling fan

after changing the batteries make sure you didn't change the remote code. If you didn't there should be a reset button inside the battery compartment, it may just look like a small hole. Just use a toothpick and insert it into the hole and lightly depress the reset switch.Replace the battery cover and try using the remote again.

Casablanca fan stopped working suddenly, both fan & light

You must 'reset' the remote. I've had it happen quite a few times.
1. Turn off power to fan. Then back on.
2. Using remote cycle the following fan buttons from high to med to low, then from low to med to high again. That 'should' fix the problem.

Fan won't shut off w/remote.

Does the remote have a dedicated button for off/on lights, and then off/on fan?

I assume it used to work,,???

First, regardless, replace the batteries in the remote, even if they are new.

This will do two things, reset the remote and double check the remote is powerful enough to send a strong signal.

Do you have the original set up manual for the fan?

If this is not a new install, and it simply quit, get out the manual and perform the original setup.

Sometimes there are "modes" setup on the fan by how long the wall power switch is on or off, say on for 30 seconds puts it in test mode, or on/off in less than 30 seconds puts it in operational mode.

Not knowing what you have, I cannot say that you need either a new fan or new remote, I need more information about the entire situation.

Ceiling fan stopped working after power spike blew the breaker. I reset the breaker and all else in the room came on but not fan. Does it have an internal reset?

If you own a Hunter Original, there is no reset button, but MANY people that have a remote control added (includng me) have , once power has been restored, found that the chain was pulled by someone and it got into the off position, rather than the slow, medium or high setting. With the circuit hot, pull the chain one more time and try to turn on your fan with the remote again.
Hope this helps.
