Question about Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

My pictures are always blurry, even when I focus in for a second before I take the picture. Please help. I am holding my camera very still all the time and the picture is ALWAYS blurry, no matter even if I don't hold it on timer. I'm not sure what to do.

The shooter has two positions . one (half push) is for focusing and after full push is shot. When you take a picture, you see some green squares ? or only one square in the middle ? if that square is not green and is red. Your camera can`t make focus. One reason is because is on macro mode. If you see a flower on the LCD, that means is in the macro mode and you have to deactivate that function.

Hold the shutter button half way before firing. The camera might be a little laggy with the focus. Also try cleaning the lens. Sometimes fingerprints or grim can screw up the auto-focus.

My pictures come out blurry even though the lens is clean, focused and in automatic mode.

Make sure the release button is being pressed, not punched. If you are punching the button you will be shaking the camera making the pictures blurry even if they are focused. The shutter speed should be at least 1/60th of a second, so f the room is dark and you are not using flash this will also make a similar problem. Take it to a camera store for diagnosis

Question : Why are my pictures out of focus (blurry)? Answer : This problem can occur for one or more reasons. Here are some common causes and suggested solutions.
  • The lens is dirty. Use a soft brush to remove dust and dirt. Wipe the lens gently with a soft, lint-free cloth or an untreated lens-cleaning tissue. Do not use cleaning solution unless it is designed specifically for camera lenses.
  • The subject was too close to the camera. Make sure that you are far enough away from your subject. Each camera has a recommended distance for normal, telephoto (zoom), wide-angle, and close-up pictures.
  • The subject was not within the effective range of the flash. Each camera has an effective flash range.
  • The camera did not focus or expose the picture correctly. For the best possible pictures, press the shutter button halfway and hold. When the Ready light or framing marks turn green, press the shutter button completely down to take the picture.
  • The LCD screen Preview feature was not used to take a picture in Close-Up mode. Always use the Preview feature in Close-Up mode to confirm focus and to frame the subject properly. If the Preview feature is not used, the LCD will not display an accurate view of the subject.
  • The subject or camera moved. Hold the camera very steady when taking a picture, or place the camera on a flat, stable surface. You may want to consider using a tripod or monopod.

Pictures are coming out blurry

On digital cameras it is always best to press the button half way down before taking the picture. This helps the camera focus, thus preventing blurry images. Always, always press the button half way down. Secondly, if you are still getting blurry pictures, there is a possiblity that the sensor in your camera is bad. I don't know how old your camera is or how long you've had it, but you would need to send it for repair, exchange it, or if it's under warranty maybe they'll send you a new one.

Blurry pictures

Hi,
I know they look great when you preview them on the LCD, but remember they are a lot smaller, Before you acept the shot, tak a few seconds to zoom into a detail (i always go for the eye to see if it is in focus - most imprtant on a portrait) if you are shooting (not in automatic mode) and are using a slow shutter speed 1/60th or less you will get blurry pics, you have to be at least that and open your apeture to let in more light, or change your ISO start in 100, then 200 to see if that helps. You didn't mention if you had a vibration lens, if you do make sure it is swithed on when hand holding the camera and OFF when you are using a tripod (otherwise they will be slightly out of focus) let me know if that helps or you need more.

Blurry Images

The camera display is a two-stage progressive display. The image is roughed out, then the interleaving lines are filled in. This has no effect on the image itself, just the monitor display. Apart from the media, digital photography is the same as film photography, and subject to the same challenges and requires the same time-honored techniques. If your pictures are blurry, you may be shaking the camera. Practice holding the camera firmly to your eye, and squeeze (don't poke) the shutter release. If you are holding the camera at arms length to shoot - what can I say? You can also increase the ISO speed, so that the shutter speed is faster. You may not be focusing on the right area. Focus on the subject (line up the box in the viewfinder), particularly on the eyes, by pressing half-way on the shutter release. Holding, to lock the focus, re-point the camera to compose the picture before pressing the shutter release the rest of the way. Make sure you hold the shutter release and wait the 1/2 second or so for the exposure to complete (the 5700 is painfully slow), indicated by the "green" light in the eyepiece, before whipping the camera from your face.
