I have a Sony CDP-XA30ES CD Player and it does not read the cd's anymore. What can I do and where can I find parts. Based in the UK.

I recently experienced similar issues. The CD stops rotating in the middel of a CD and the index disappears from the display. I tried to clean it with alcohol, but this doesn't seem to help.
Sometimes after opening, removing, replacing and closing again, the same CD will one of a suddent play just fine.

Anyone any idea?

Thanks,
JM

PS - I cannot find the KSS-... part. This might have to do with the fact that this is a CD player with a 'Fixed pick-up mechanism'. In other words, the CD moves and the laser stands still. Possible?

Try opening up the top and cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that does not resolve the problem, look at the back side of the optics and there should be a marking like KSS-xxx. This is the generic part designation. Any electronics supplier that supports Sony should have these.
