Have the hp55oo series and for some reason I can no longer scan to my pc or to email. message is you need to install or run software for this feature. I can't find my disc that came with the printer - is there a way to download what I need in order to scan

Scanning problem


You are using HP PSC 1610 and There is an easy option available for you to scan documents/pictures directly to Email since you are using Outlook.

for this, you will find need to check if HP Solution Center is installed in your pc ? if not, you need to install it to make things easier for you.

If you have not installed the complete software for your printer, you will not find HP Solution Center in your PC.

There is also a printing patch available incase you have upgraded your PC from Vista to Win 7

After you have installed the S/w, check for HP Solution Center on the Desktop.

Click on Scan Document and Click on DOCUMENT to EMAIL option and click Scan, The Scanned document will automatically get scanned and Attached to Blank Email.

I get an error message when I scan. It says Error


ISSUE: The error Waiting for PC is displayed on the control panel when scanning, using the Start Scanbutton on the control panel. The user will also notice a Not Setup on PC error when pressing theScan to … button. Note that scan from the PC works properly without an error. SOLUTION: The probable causes for this issue are listed below:
  • Firewall denying access to PC
  • Device polling not enabled
  • The scan to function is not enabled in the HP Toolbox
  • The destination has not been added to the Scan to button from HP toolbox
  • The HP Toolbox is losing the scan to destination
How to troubleshoot this issue:
  1. PC protection software such as firewall software may prohibit proper communication between HP AiO products and Toolbox and scanning software. Firewalls may need to be reconfigured to allow Toolbox to communicate with the AiO. The Toolbox software is similar to Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer in this way. Temporarily disabling firewall software may be helpful in determining if it needs to be reconfigured for Toolbox to operate properly. Please contact your third party firewall software vendor if assistance is needed to reconfigure the firewall. The following third party support Web sites may be useful:
  2. When Device Polling is turned off, the Alerts and the Scan to e-mail or folder options in the HP Toolbox are disabled, and the START SCAN function on the HP LaserJet AiO product control panel is also turned off. CLICK HERE for instructions on how to turn on Device polling.
  3. To program the device SCAN TO ... button, view the device settings. Open the HP Toolbox and click the Scan to tab. For more information, CLICK HERE to view the document titled HP Color LaserJet 2840 AiO Series Products - How to use "Scan To E-mail" or "Scan to Folder" from the Device
  4. The User loses the folder when choosing to save scanned files under the Scan to Folderoption of the Scan to Tab. Hello. Uninstall the software properly by going to Start Menu > All Programs > Lexmark Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Restart pc. Probably, the software got corrupted that's why you are having problem with scanning. Reinstall the software by using the cd only this time. The scan software can only be installed using the installation cd that came with the printer.

Hello. Try to run the installation cd in your computer again. If you haven't tried to uninstall the software from your computer, the cd should give you three options: Install a Printer, Repair/Update and Install Additional Softwares. Choose Repair/Update and just let it run and finish the installation. Also, make sure to allow all Lexmark and printer communications in your firewall. Try to scan wirelessly again. If problem needs further troubleshooting, I advise you to call Lexmark.

How do I scan and transfer to outgoing email??


Hi. Here are the steps you need to do to send a scanned document/image using your default email application. Place your orinal document/image on the printer. Using the Productivity Studio software, click email, select the scan type (photo, several photos or document). Click start. Click create email to attach the file to the email message. Originally my hp officejet 6110 had a scan error, cannot connect to pc. Then I did a #6 reset and now says no scan options, you need to install or run HP software for feature. I updated the drivers but...

SamsungCLX 3160FN Software problem with scanning to OCR and Email


you may have to set up the email server address.ie the SMTP Server address in the file sharing settings. you cant scan to email without this. you need the email provider address and you may need to set up your admin email. you can use your own for this. if you can scan to a folder you can always forward as email from your docs folder if you have a problem.

Scan to pc


On my version of the hp software I can quite easily do this.

You will need working email software on your pc, so to scan the image, ensure that the pc is connected to the scanner and the pc is switched on - with all the HP scanning software installed.

Press the scan button on top of the scanner, with the document inside the scanner faced down.

When the HP Software pops up on the PC - the scanned image should appear. You can then click the email as attachment button in the HP software.

There are many ways to do this operation. So if you get stuck then let me know I we can go into more detail.

Pressing of scan button feature is no longer supported by hp drivers, if installed correctly one scans using scanners and fax


When the scan button is pressed on the printer, nothing happens. The scan button does not work correctly. Solution Scan documents using Windows Fax and Scanning or Paint. Scanning with Windows Fax and Scanning
  1. Click the Start (c00845897.gif ) icon.
  2. Click All Programs .
  3. Click Windows Fax and Scanning .
  4. Click New Scan .
  5. Click File and then click Scan .
Scanning with Paint
  1. Click Windows .
  2. Click All Programs .
  3. Click Accessories .
  4. Click Paint .
  5. Click File and then click From Scanner or Camera .
  6. Click Scan .
