This projection television (model WS - 65511) has been in air conditioned storage for several years and I recently tried to hook it up, but am unsuccessful in getting it to respond. I can power the unit up with the controls on the front of the television, but the remote does not work at all even with new batteries. I am unable to change volume, channels or get to the menu on the front controls. The device button does allow me to scroll through the various input devices that I previously had feeding into the television. I have tried to reset the television and it seems to go through that process and power off as it should. However, when I power it back on it stll does not respond. Any suggestions?
Here is your problem. Several years ago, the signal was analog format. now it is digital. unless you have either cable or satellite, the only way your tv will work is to get a analog to digital adapter. Regarding the batteries, remove them and use a pencil eraser to scrub and clean the contacts. J.
First I have confirmed through my cell phone camera that the remote is sending an Infrared signal. Second the input I was using is a digital cable tv signal that I know is good. The last time the tv was used the input was Dish satellite service. I am able to highlight the "antennae - DTV" input on the screen using the device button on the front panel, but when I then hit enter to initiate it nothing changes. The rest of the buttons on the front panel do nothing.

Hi,
Two things are involved to cause that problem, tv remote control and remote sensor in tv.
Upon verification of remote working, it would be confirm that remote sensor in tv is defective and need to be replaced.
Remote control sends infra red light signal to tv and we can not see that light with naked-eye, so need digital camera or cell phone camera to see it by watching remote front through camera, press any keys on remote, if you see infra red light is blinking in remote front that means remote is working and remote sensor in tv will be replaced.
If no light blinking on pressing remote buttons confirm that this remote is defective and buy new remote.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.
But why can I not control the tv with the front panel buttons?
Oh, I missed that part of question.
It would be due to DM module in tv that usually got problem of leaky electrolytic capacitors, replacement of those capacitors would fix that problem.
Local tv tech will help you in that fix because it requires soldering work in circuit board.
I gave you reason about that. This model has issues with DM module that causing such problem.

I don't understand why the tv doesn't at least get a picture and sound.
I'd like another expert's opinion please.
