Question about JVC AV-56WP74 56" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Jvc AV-56wp74 convergence

I saw in a previous post that you could post links to the parts and step by step instructions to fix this problem. My red will not move left or right when I go into the manual convergence menu. Is that a faulty convergence IC? I see two black parts with numbers stk392-110 on them. I looked it up at and they were $90 bucks each! is that right? If you have access to directions/parts for doing this repair could you please point me in that direction? I called a repairman and he said it would be btw 375 and 425. seems a little steep to me. I've worked on Xbox circuit boards before so I'm not totally new to a soldering iron.

I have the exact same problem with my AV-56WP74. My red will not move left or right when I go into the manual convergence menu. I see that is a faulty convergence IC. Where do I find the chips and resistors and are they stk392-110 and which resistors need to be replaced? Where can I get the instructions for free? I've worked on Aircraft electrical systems but have not soldered on circuit boards before. Thanks!

When I asked where to find the chips and resistors that need to be replaced, I meant where inside the TV.

Yes either the manual or parts thats how we take care of the operating expenses. The manual insures that you have the same info in hand that the tech has for safety as well as clarity in understanding whats dangerous to work around. But you dont really need to buy a manual as we give the free support to any one that gets the parts as well, plus we will give advice if you just want to leaave an email with your question by clicking the contact link on the lower left hand side info section

Bad convergence on my jvc model av56wp74

If you can solder and you are comfortable working inside a set where there are potentially dangerous high voltages, yes you can fix this. The problem is likely to be either bad connections on the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you still have the results of the previous repair, please post those here and I'll provide you with additional details and instructions.

Convergence problem with my jvc tv

Its actually a easy repair but its recommended that the convergence resistors need replacement as well. You can get the parts at the following link and they provide free detailed instructions with pictures. You need two STK392-110 Convergence ICs and you would need the JVC convergence Resistor kit #1 also. Heres the link.

A repair facility will charge 400 to 600.00 for the repair. Or you can repair it yourself if you can solder. As both convergence ICs need to be replaced. They are STK392-110 you can get replacement ICs at the following link with free instalation instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself. Heres the link.

JVC AV-56WP74 56 in rear projection convergence

If you remove the lower front panel where the speakers are then the small access panel you will see the convergence module right there in the front. It will have the two Convergence ICs attached to that heat sink. They are probably STK392-110. Then if you would like let me know and I will post a link where you can get the parts along with step by step instructions on how to do the repair.

I have this exact model TV, and my red bulb was the primary culprit. I almost had it, but then a lot of fluid came from underneath the bulb? I had to turn it off in fear of electricution. Ended up selling the TV.
