Purchase a new spark plug. Pour all the fuel out of the tank and fill it with a fresh supply of fuel. Now, remove the spark plug and spray a small amount of carb cleaner in the combustion chamber. Quickly install the spark plug and fully close the choke, press the primer button 3 times and try to start it. You may have to do this several times until it starts and runs.

Testimonial: "Removed spark plug and cleaned it using a compressed air spark plug cleaner. Cleans like new. Replaced fuel and added some fuel into the combustion chamber. Added some fuel stabilizer into the carb, had no cleaner, and blew it out. About 15 pulls latter it is running fine. Thanks for the advice. From now on I will run it dry if idol for any time."

That is one way to go but? I recommend you not run it dry and store it with no fuel supply. Reason being is the carb gaskets and diaphragm can dry out. What I do with my own lawnmower, trimmer, and generator is use a good fuel stabilizer. I add 1.5 Ounces of Seafoam for each gallon of fuel. I fill the tank completely full. Reason being to keep condensation to a minimum. On my trimmer, I add .5 ounce of Seafoam to a full tank. Then start the engine and run for enough time to allow the stabilizer to enter the carburetor. Usually about 5 minutes. Then store the unit for the winter. I have never had a problem doing it this way. Seafoam is a fuel system cleaner and fuel stabilizer. You can get it at most auto parts stores and IMO it is the best of the best. I know some may disagree and recommend running it dry and that may work well, But in my experience that is risky and may cause problems.

How to start a Stihyl gas trimmer?

here are the steps to starting most stihl trimmers:

#1 turn the choke on (should be a little black knob or an orange switch on the engine itself)
#2 press the primer bulb 3-4 times (should be a little plastic/rubber bubble again on the engine)
#3 put trimmer on ground or bench (I find ground works best)
#4 pull the pull cord fast and hard away from the engine
#5 once it starts turn the choke back off

My hedge trimmer will not start... Put in new gas

It's not getting gas, due to being gummed up with old gas. Remove all of the old gas and mix up a batch of fresh gas&oil. Also get some carb cleaner. Put just a little of the gas&oil mix plus an equal part carb cleaner. Try to start it just to work the new mixture through the carb. You might use the spray start to help pull the new gas through. If it fires up on the new gas&oil&carbcleaner mix, shut it off and let it sit for an hour or two. Drain it out and try just a little gas&oiil without the carb cleaner. If all is well fill the tank. If not, repeat the whole process. If you can't clear the gum this way you may have to remove the carb to clean it. Good luck.

Stihl 011 av wont start

Flooded? Try a new plug, or get that one cleaned up. If it is sparking and wet, it should fire, even if it doesn't run, it should spark. Did you put the jets or the needle valves back to where they were? I think they start out at 1 1/4 turns out , then adjust the low and high. If it is fouling out with too much gas, the low speed jet is open too far.

My stihl fs 350 wont start at all any sugestions ?, thanks from mark uk

I would have a shop do a compression test on the engine. It should be at least 100 psi to run. And then a spark test on the ignition module to see if it firing to the spark plug. I would look at a carburetor rebuild. I would also mix up some fresh fuel mixture; anything over 30 days now is considered bad gas.
