I have a simple yet effective solution for you. Buy a whiteboard marker and use it to write/mark on the spots where the permanent marks are and quickly erase with a dry cloth or a cotton bud.

Be sure not to use any liquid cleaning product or alcohol or you may erase the markings (play/pause) underneath; then you will have to guess the buttons.

As for what the whiteboard marker is, its th same marker that is used to write on whiteboards in schools.

May 31, 2010 - do you meen like a dry erase marker
    May 31, 2010 - Yes exactly. May 31, 2010 - no luck
May 31, 2010 - Can you describe the marker your brother used? If I know what its made of, I can get to the solution quickly. In the meantime use a cotton bud dipped in nail-polish remover (simple one, not containing any moisturizing substance) but be careful not to use on the button marks. May 31, 2010 - i beleive it was a sharpie
Jun 01, 2010 - id like to find a picture of the button area and i could just print it on a lable and stick it on

I would try the mr clean magic sponge but first I would try alcohol or fingernail polish remover.

Or you can also try

WD-40Venturer PDV880 8 in. Portable - ir?t=lilduckduck-20&l=ur2&o=1
Anti-bacterial hand gel
Hairspray
Cooking spray
Bleach (depending on the surface)
Goof Off

Well this is a permanent marker and it can only be removed after a few hours pass. After that use a cotton bud dipped in alcohol to remove it. You can get alcohol from a medical store or a hardware store. Its just that simple had I known the marker in the start then there wouldn't be any delays. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Did you have any luck erasing those ink marks?

Ok. If you believe your only option is to print labels and attach, please wait for while while I search for a high resolution photo of the keypad. Will let you know shortly. Thanks
