Audio is not working

My new stereo stopped producing sound after our house was struck by lightning. everything else seemingly works. It turns on and the source button changes sources and the discs can be removed. There is just no sound coming through the speakers.

I think in these type of models that the entire amp might be an IC (to save on space). It will be located on an big metal heatsink. If it does use one of these, from what you say I would say a static charge took it out, hence both channels dead!

It may look like this:

My boilder is struck by lightning and had burned plastic smell. then it stopped working. The power line seems to be fine, somewhere inside got struck. Any way this can be fixed?

You can change out all the heating elements and controls, but hard to say what lighning did without seeing and being there. Sounds like the control board got burnt and that was the smell you smelled, but I can't promise the element is good.

Denon receiver just struck by lightning.

Any time a unit is hit by lightning, it is usually a total loss. While the initial problem may be fixable, other components have been stressed and are likely to fail. Most shops won't work on these units because of the likelyhood of continual failures. Warranties won't be given or the repairs. In your specific case, the switching IC has been damaged and needs to be replaced as well as the surround processing section. This is best handled as an insurance claim for replacement.

Nothing works.

Remote receiver got fried by the voltage spike. If you have pull chain controls as well, you can remove the receiver and possibly be able to save the fan, but the capacitors, may have also been fried. If the capacitors are fried, then most likely the motor experienced some seriously high voltage too, which would mean I would replace the fan. I assume you have had the house's wiring inspected? If lightning struck the house and killed the fan, then it likely ALSO damaged other electrical components. If the lightning struck your power transformer and not your home directly, you may can get the power company to pay for this ceiling fan as the transformer is supposed to have a lightning arrester on it.

Frigidaire clothes dryer struck by lightning

First thing you need to do is determine that it is the dryer. we had a similar problem and it turned out to be the connections in the dryer plug. you should have 2 prongs in the plug with 120volts and one hole with no voltage.

Sound Just Stopped Working

I have the same problem with my 49txi, and I called pioneer and a repair shop as well. Both told me that the 49txi has a known problem with over heating and that its boards unsolder themselves. I would have thought Pioneer would stand behind something this expensive, but that was the old Pioneer in the 80s, and the new Pioneer says we are on our own.

Lightning hit last night tv won't work cable company says it's in the television

Sorry to here about your problem! This is the time of year I used to get tons and tons of sets, stereos ,games, and vcrs in for repair. On your panasonic it seems that maybe the surge took out the tuner portion or the power supply. It sould cost aprox. 200 bucks or so for a new tuner. Im sure your aware that homeowners will cover almost all repair after the deductable. Good Luck
