My sewing machine will not stich. i have tryed everything i can find on this problem but nothings working

Make sure nothing has either gotten stuck/caught/jammed somewhere inside it. Insure that the thread stays attached to the needle. Or the material you are trying to sew/stitch may be too thick.

Singer esteem ii wont sew after the needle wouldnt go down and got fixed. when it does sew it skips stitches. what do I do?

Skipped stitches
1. The needle is not inserted correctly
Remove needle & reinsert needle( flat side towards the back of machine)
2. The needle is damaged
replace with new needle
3. The wrong size needle is being used
Choose a needle to suit the thread & fabric
4. The foot not attached correctly
Check & attach correctly

if you can send me the model number of the machine,, I'll see if
singer has a free downloadable manual

My Kenmore stopped making stitches. I changed the needle recently to a Singer Universal regular point needles 100/16, but I dont believe that is different than what was in there before. I have a Model...

Why are you using #16 needle, that is very heavy duty? Did your machine pick up the bobbin thread correctly? Try a different needle, #11, (inserted facing away from you) is usually good. Make sure that you have decent thread and that it is the same weight top and bottom. Now rethread, with the presser foot up and when you have that done, with the presser foot stiil up, pull top & bottom thread, it should feed smoothly, now with the presser foot down, pull the thread, it should barely move. This usually seats the thread in the tension discs. Put your top tension at 3 and see if that makes a difference.

I have a kenmore 385.1884180 sewing machine. The other day I ran a couple of seams to see if the machine still worked as I have not used it in a few years. And it stitched just fine. Today when I go to use...

Make sure that you are doing the bobbin right, by that I mean, make sure that the thread is in the tension spring and you put your finger on the bobbin and pull the thread up, now bring down your needle to hook it. Look at your manual. If, you don't have your manual, go managemylife.com and download for free

after inseting bobbins closed needle plate cover
manually rorate hand wheel to hook up lower thread bobbin by upper thread bobbin if two thread appear on plate needle adjust tension dial to # 3 to 4 and stich dial to # 12 this for straight stich try sew manually first to observe thread under bobbins if free rotate and no accumulation of thread loop you sew w/ foot pedal or push buttin..happy sewing and have a nice day thanks

Top thread tension tight

March 12, 2009

kenmore 385.17922
i have started using my machine again (after several years) and am doing patchwork.. all has been fine, and suddenly the bottom thread (bobbin) is looping. i've adjusted the tension nob from 4 (where i had it) to 5...back to 4.. 41/2....3 1/2....5 1/2... on and on and the bottom thread still keeps looping.
i've read and re-read the manual...and the only suggestion it gives is to adjust the tension button.
it's not working...... what else can i try??
thanks
eva

Thread jamming, wont feed material, sewing in one place

Try moving the stitch length dial to 4 or 5 - check the manual. You may have it in the position for very close together sewing. I had to do a lot of trying with my 4795 to get it to work right. I found that very thin thread, polyester kind, broke at the needle after a couple of stitches. I switched to coats & clarks thread and a Singer ball point needle and it works fine. Be sure your needle is inserted with the flat top toward the back of the machine. Good luck!
