The game won't save anymore. It used to for years but now it won't work.

Unfortnatley, Game Boy color games had a internal battery inside the Game Case to keep save files on them. You could open the case up and install a new battery, otherwise you cannot save. Sorry!
Good luck and do not forget to rate me :)

My save files continusly corrupted and the game also says the time is not set after I turn the Game Boy Advance off then back on. I'm also wondering if it has to be a Game Boy Color.

The internal battery inside the game cartridge has died and needs to be replaced. This watch battery is what keeps track of the save file and the time in the game. Remove the screw on the back of the game cart (you may need a special screwdriver) and pop off the cover, revealing the main PBC (PCB?) circut board of the cartridge. You're doing game surgery, so be careful with doing this. Bend the contacts keeping the battery in place and remove the battery. If you accidently broke off the contacts, you'll need to solder some more back on. Anyway, replace the old battery with a CR 2032 battery (common watch battery sold at retailers), or a CR 2025 will work as well. Just make sure the contacts are touching the right sides of the battery. I believe the default would be negative side down. It's recommended that you tape the battery down to keep it from coming loose. After all that is done, put the cartridge casing back on, screw the screw back into place, and insert it into your Game Boy. It really does not matter wether you're using Game Boy Color, Advance, Pocket, or any model. Your game should be able to keep the time and its save.

Well its because the battery inside of the gamepack is dead now and needs to be replaced or its a bad gamepack then so buy a new one.

My sons just got pokemon gameboy color hand-me-downs x 2. They are 7 and never had a toy like this before. The screens are very dark and we did not get a 'how to use' manual with them. I'm a bit of a...

game boy colors have very dark screens.
if you can, get a Game Boy Advance SP.
the screen has light and has a bigger screen.
you can get one at a Game Stop for $30.
Game Boy Advance SP play game boy, game boy color games, too.
if you choose to stay with the GB color, your boys will have to play their GBC's in well lit conditions.
hope this helps ;p

How do you fix a game boy color game that won't even start? It goes to the GAME BOY screen, and where the word NINTENDO is supposed to be, it looks like a pickett fence. Can someone help me?

the game cartridge is dirty.
get a q-tip, put it in the open side of the cartridge game and clean the metal parts that look like piano keys.
hope this helps ;p
