Question about Alpine MRP-T220 Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

Ive set this amp up in my van with alpine spr 17s component speakers and on the first attempt they worked perfectly but after about 5 minutes on volume 12 or more it would cut out and come back in every 1 or 2 seconds for less than half a second. when trying to work out what it was i changed the balance all the way to the left and it was fine! so i tried it all the way to the right and the same thing would occur. am i right to assume that this problem is more than likely going to be caused by faulty wiring? thanks!

A short could be an issue for sure. But I don't think that's what you have here I believe it's improper wiring to your amp from your speakers.

I have a 12" d4 type r 1000 rms and a alpine 1000 amp speaker sounds great but smells like something is burning, my amp never over heats or shuts down but the smell is still coming from the sub?

Cut your gain back on the amp. It sounds like they are set too high. Check your install instructions on how to set your gain. If you have a 4 or 5 volt output head unit your will not be at half way. Im running a JL Audio 500 /1 on a skar wwv10 dvc in a ported box. My gain is set about half way & its plenty loud.I have a Alpine 9887 headunit 5 volt output on my RCAsI can take a volt meter & set my speaker output at 45amps & my gain in perfect.

Spr-69 crackling

It may be a bad voice coil. It would make that type noise. If the cone isn't cracked its the coil.

How to install spr-17s

The six 1/2 speakers are your woofers, connect the positive and negative wires from the speaker to the 2 connections labeled on the crossover as W(woofer)+ pos and W(woofer) -- neg, hook the tweeters to the crossover connections labeled T(tweeter)+ pos and T(tweeter) -- neg, then hookup the 2 remaining connections labeled Amp to your amplifier, amp must be 2 or 4 channel stereo capable and give out enough power to properly drive the speakers so they achieve optimal performance.

Whats the best alpine 6x9? dds-r69g,sps-6939,spr or others

All of these work nice, remember the quality of the sound depends primarily on the source ( car stereo and/amp) and then the speakers, you need to know what Ohm and what watt is the minimum requirement for your sound system.

I am wondering about car amplifiers, I don't know what kind to get, I have Alpine 6.5" 2-Way Car Speakers (SPS-600), 80 watt as my front speakers, and Alpine 6 1/2" 2-Way Car Speakers (SPR-17C), 100 watt...

I would strongly recommend that you get a 5 channel amp that puts out 75watts rms per channel that will deliver between 200-300 watts to the sub channel. I use planet audio amps myself and they run strong all day every day-maybe you could look at a planet audio vrx 600.5(5-channel) it throws 100w x4 and 200 or 300 to the subs depending on the resistance of the sub. Good luck
