Question about Alps MD 1000 Thermal Printer
Windows install driver question for MD-1000, peviously submitted.
Alps printers will not work in Vista, but will work in Windows 7. You need Windows 7 Ultimate or Pro, and a good PC. Load VirtualXP, which is included in Windows 7. When you run VirtualXP, your machine will be acting just like an old XP machine. It will run everything that won't run in Vista, including your Alps printer.

I have not seen any specific drivers for Vista, however if you have Vista running on a 32 bit machine (go to control panel and select system to see what you have), you can network (assuming that you have a network) into the printer if you attach the printer to a Windows XP Service Pack 2 machine (Any old machine will do, does not need to be fast) on your network and set the printer properties to share. Then you just add a printer from network and accept the Drivers when prompted. Will not work with 64bit Vista. When I tried this with a 64 bit Vista machine the spooler shuts down.
