Sears has stock on parts for major brand dryers Go to SEARS.COM and see with your make and model number

The top and front panel will need to be removed to service these parts
The drum will simply pull out once apart to replace the belt and tensioner pulley
The pulley has a bearing that wears out so replace that as well

Dryer barrel does not turn

If the motor comes on but the drum doesn't move the belt probably broke. On most dryers you can open it at the back with a couple of screws if the belts broken a new one can be bought and installed without much hassle

You'll have to trouble shoot it... the belt either jumped off the motor pully or it may have broke. Either way you'll have to disconnect it and inspect it. Remember to always unplug the unit when servicing it. If the belt broke it is not hard to replace. The drums are held by gravity on rollers. Simply lift enough to get new belt pass the roller. If there are upper rollers in the way... simply remove them. Don't remove lower rollers. Lift the drum enough to install the belt and replace the upper rollers, relocate the new belt and close it up. Done.

I just had the belt replaced on my "Maytag" Gas Clothes Dryer Model #DG608. The repair man installed the new belt with the smooth side toward the drum as per one set of instructions derived from...

Herman usualy the groove side goes toward the drum which means it rides on the pulley from the motor disconnect and lean backwards to get a visual

I have a Maytag DE50 dryer and the drum belt broke. Anyone have a diagram or instructions on how to put the new belt on?

Ignore gas references if electric dryer.
Unplug dryer and shut off gas. Disconnect gas line. Tip dryer onto its front. Remove back panel. Unscrew and remove inside back manifold. Place belt around drum and fit into pulley wheel(s) on motor shaft. (There may be a spring loaded tension arm on one of the wheels. Install the belt on it so that it pulls the belt tight around the drum and pulleys.) Check friction gasket (that the drum rotates on) on manifold and replace it if worn thin. Install manifold. Install back panel. Reconnect power and gas.

The belt broke drum won't turn

Hello Friend, Replacing a dryer belt is very simple. Just remove front of dryer cabinet. unplug wires from dryer door switch. Just slide a new belt over the drum with the belt grooves facing to the inside. Underneath drum you will see a tention wheel next to motor. Install belt around tention wheel and around motor shaft pully. Re-install front dryer cabinet. Make sure to plug in the wires to the door switch and make sure that the drum is re-inserted back over the felt glide on inner cabinet front. Happy to help, Tim.
