This problem is usually related to a incorrect wireless security key that you use in connecting to your 2wire wireless router. Usually 2wire wireless router you can find the correct wep key or wireless key on the bottom of it on a sticker its compose of 10 character and if not that is usually the phone number that was assign to you by your DSL company. So try to disconnect from the wireless and reconnect again after you double check the wireless security key.

If that;s the case try doing first a power cycle on your 2wire and computer, to do that first power off the 2wire then power off the computer wait for about 1 minute then power back on the 2 wire and when all lights are all solid power on the computer and then check if its connected wirelessly then try to o online.

Cannot access web

Make certain you have permission to connect. You may show a signal; but unless you are allowed to connect from the device to the wireless site; noting will happen. Make certain the system BIOs and Connecting software are up-to-date.

I use a dl 514 router. the computer shows a wireless connection and a strong signal but i'm not able to get online. now that I'm using a cable, it still shows a wireless connection with a strong signal.

Its quite likely that the router is not connected to your computer wirelessly. Which means, your wireless card is not picking up a IP address. I would suggest two thigns 1. In your wireless utlity , try to repair the connection. 2. Check if you have a static IP address. If you do, remove it.
Hope this helps
Thanks Ranjit

Intermittent connection from router

Have you checked with your ISP on the strength and consistency of the signal before troubleshooting the router. If you're having problems with the wired connection, I would first try connecting directly to the modem to make sure you have a strong signal.
Let me know if you have a strong signal directly from the modem. We can troubleshoot the wireless router once we ensure the signal from the modem is good.
Thanks.

Can not connect but has strong signal

Try to check your accesspoint configration again. Is your wireless link Secured? if it is, reenter your network key and try to connect again. check your IP address to sure it is correct. Are you using authomatic addressing or is it manual,
go to your command prompt and type "ipcongif -all" on the computers that are wired and connected to the switch, view their settings and compare it with what you have on your laptop.
