You most likely would need to get the button repaired. The button is soldered onto the motherboard. You dont need a new motherboard, just that one small component. Get in touch with a laptop repair company such as www.revivemylaptop.com

I used to have a pop-up telling me the battery was low, and to plug it in, but that has disappeared and my laptop just closes down flat. Any ideas how I turn it back on? it's an advent roma 1000

Your laptop probably went bad. You can try updating the bios of the computer, if that doesn't work you will most likely have to purchase a new battery.

Hope this helps!

My mouse pad is too sensitive and moves the cursor to places in my document while i am typing....Any way to help me?

I will assume you are using Win 7. Go to : control panel > hardware and sounds > devices and printers > mouse. You will see a slide bar which should allow you to move the slider to the left to slow your mouse.

If this was helpful, Please rate this solution.

While I'm typing, the cursor moves to another place in the sentence or on the screen. This is a huge problem, because when I'm tying, the cursor goes back anywhere it wants to in the sentence, which mixes...

Try an external mouse. I have seen this happen many times, and it is usually the users hand brushing the integrated laptop mouse pad.
If the external mouse works and the problem is not there, then try again with the internal pad, and watch to see if your hands or fingers brush against it.

If it still happens even with the external mouse and you are sure you are not touching the pad accidentally, then you may want to contact manufacturer of computer, check for updated USB drivers as well.

Your internal mouse runs off USB, and there is a possibility there may be a glitch there that could be resolved with an update.

My screen on the advent roma 1000 goes dark

Hi,

The usual culprits are loose connections (this only happens when the lid is moved forwards or backwards). The other is the LCD inverter getting too hot.

In both cases you will need to disassemble the laptop lid to check the leads and the inverter itself for dry joints.

If you're not comfortable with disassembling the laptop yourself then i recommend that you take it to a reputable repair store to have it looked at.

Regards.

No toolbar/ deskbar

you probably moved it by accident try moving your mouse cursor near the bottom or sides of the screen, when the cursor almost dissapears, it should change from a single white arrow to a double (up/down) arrow. click left and drag up, normally you bar should reappear.
