Hi Ken, sadly it sounds like the chuck is past its best. The cogs inside the chuck have most probably worn. If you can get the chuck off try clamping it in a vice and use some pump pliers to undo it. Failing that you will need a new chuck which you may be able to get at a good diy store.

Jaws won't tighten or loosen to hold a bit

Hmmm some times the counterclockwise screw that attaches the chuck to the drill come forward and that is how then it stucks the 3 parts that fix a drill to a chuck. Check if this screw come forward. If yes then destroy it and replace it... We destroy it by using a drill smaller than it (usually it is 5mm so we use 4mm bit and of course a CARBIDE one because even cobalt ones can not drill a hardened bolt)

Seized chuck.

I would continue to use the rust remover/penetrating oil products, put a pair of vice grips on the chuck grip and use a hammer to tap the grips. Hopefully this will free it up. It's not very elegant and you probably have already tried similar methods but it's the best idea that I have. Also you could soak the chuck portion in penetrating oil (chuck submerged only) overnight. Good luck!

I have a DCD940KX 18v Dewalt drill driver with the one click drill chuck. It does not keep drill bits or screwdriver bits from spinning. They spin with the slightest bit of pressure on them. My questions...

this is not a common problem with dewalt. I have been using them in my construction business for years and only heard of this once or twice. I would go to their web site and get the number for their customer service. They stand behind their products and im sure they will help in every way they can to repair the drill

Dewalt 18 volt cordless drill the chuck is stuck in the fully open position and wont close

Use a pipe wrench on it to give yourself a little more leverage. It is simply jammed all the way open and it will release when you apply enough force.

Chuck will not release bit

Hi,

the Chuck should be 2 Part.

Use 2 pair of stillsons Or pipe wrenches, Tight On the 2 Chuck Parts, Crack in opposite Directions.

Alternative, Use Wrench On Chuck Jaw, Short sharp Blow With Hammer.
