First try it on another audio ports and check, make sure that the volume on the Speaker and Volume of your computer are Turned up. Also try it to another Pc or Cd/Dvd player or Tv etc... If the problem is same with them, then there's internal fault, maybe your built-in amplifier is not working anymore, coz of short circuit or capacitors, resistors, etc problem. If it's working on another Pc or player, then double-check your audio ports. You can use another speaker on your Pc to check whether there's problem with it or not. Your last option is to get another replacement from the retailer. If you need further assistance, let me know. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

ok, I've unplugged everything to the back of the sub woofer and back in again.... several times .... I've isolated the problem to the usb plugg into the back of the sub woof.... when I unplugg it and plugg it back in I'll get sound for about 1 sec... I dont think its a broken cord... any thoughts?

check your wiring connections, sounds like you may have intermittent connection somewhere, and this is the most likely culprit. be certain that all connections are solid. multi pin plugs are notorious for having one bad pin.

Can I hook up the Bose Companion 2 series speakers to my HDTV and get acceptable sound?

Hi,
Well if you currently find the sound of the Bose acceptable and your inbuilt HD TV speakers poor, then the answer is yes. Should you not like the sound of the Bose, plugging them into an HD TV won't make them sound any better :-)

Just use the headphone out of your HD TV to connect. You may find you need to enable the headphone socket/volume via the menu settings on your HD TV

Bose companion 3

This is a common problem it seems with the electronics within the speaker set. (Companion 3 with sub and remote pod, aka, 'puck' = help desk support term)
I bought the multimedia speaker set in 2004 and had it replaced in 2005 because the 'puck' would not turn on (no orange light nor green light.) So I called help desk and they accepted the warranty exchange and I mailed the entire system (speakers and all) back to Bose in Markham, Ontario, Canada and they sent it back several weeks later. It worked 5-6 years after that as it is 2009 now, and it has the same problem again (no light on the puck). So I called help desk again and was ran through the same tests again (on/off, power plug off, various audio inputs, etc.) and the guy said to mail it in and they'd fix it as a non-warranty item. Cost: $85(Cdn) for repair + taxes, and $39 for remote pod.
So the sound that I got to enjoy from the Companion 3 system was amazing but electronic quality is very poor. For a set that cost above most other home user sets at FS and BB, it is substandard longevity.
I like Bose and have no complaints about the sound, but I will not buy another Bose multimedia package because at $350 (in 2004), I would expect it to outlast other sets. My friend bought a Logitech speaker set from another company in 2003 and is laughing at me as he realizes this is my second set and it hasn't even lasted as long as his own set.

Bose Companion 5 Problems

email support@bose.com or contact a Bose Support Specialist in Germany; or call US support at 1-800-367-4008. Something very odd is happening here. You are using the same laptop, correct? If not, let me know, as there are some things to try. If Bose has a solution, I'd love to hear it.

Left speaker sometines has no sound? Please help

I bought a set of Bose companion 3 speakers and the darn RCA jacks are cheap and wiggling loose. The cost to send back and repair out of warranty is about $125!! BOSE companion speakers may sound good, but for my money, I'd rather go with more reliable computer speaker systems like Creative or Logitech. BOSE IS WAY TO OVER-RATED, but HEY....they suckered ME out of $275!!!
