Question about Maytag Centennial 7.0 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Plus Electric Dryer

1 Answer

My maytag centennial dryer is getting too hot and not drying my clothes. I always empty the lint trap, and have checked the vent going outside. The airflow seems to come out fine, but the air is too hot coming into the dryer.

Exhaust problems are the only thing that will cause this. Check to make sure the exhaust behind the dryer is going straight out without alot of bends. Also no exhaust should be over 20 ft to the outside. Ther is a tip on how to clear house exhaust in the tips section. Just type dryer to long to dry and should take you there.

Maytag Centennial Dryer (MEDC400VW) not drying properly

First of all, please make sure the vent is clear all the way through. Next the vent must be straight as possible. Next it can not be to long. People think that because they feel the air outside the vent is clear, not always true. The vent can be partially clogged. So make sure. Next, if the vent hose has sags or bows and even tight turns. It can accumulate the moisture in it from the drying proceed. If water has collected in the vent hose the clothes will not dry properly. If the vent is to long it can not dry properly either, the blower on the dryer can only move air so far. So the shorter the better. If all of these requirements are meet. Then, I would have to start checking the thermostats. I hope I have helped you. Please respond if you need further assistance.

My 1993 Maytag Clothes Dryer heats up, turns but does not dry the clothes unless I place an absorbent towel in with the items. It sweats water from the bottom of the dryer. What is going on?

To dry clothes, we need 2 things:
1-heat to evaporate the water from the clothing
2- adequate air flow to exhaust the moist air, thereby drying them.

Your heat seems to work.....if you stop the dryer mid-cycle, the clothes should be hot.

It sounds to me like you have a lack of air flow through the dryer. If you can get to the exhaust vent grill outside, then see if you get a large volume of air coming out of it. If not, then look for the louvers stuck closed on your outside grill, or any kind of blockage in your ductwork.

Perhaps undo the vent at the back of the dryer TEMPORARILY

Dryer putting out hot air but clothes not drying

You have some blockage between lint trap and where the unit vents outside.

Clothes are not drying as fast as before. Lint trap is not collecting ling.

venting issue. check vent tube for restriction. A quick way to know if it is external is disconnect vent tube run a load of clothes if they dry well then it is the tube, if it is the same then it is internal and the dryer will need to be disassembled and cleaned from the lint trap back. Good Luck Tim

Dryer is heating but clothes are not drying.

Judging by the increasing moisture, your dryer vent is not venting the moisture to the outside. Check your vent pipe for blockages. I had a person a while back with a similar problem, and this person had a lint trap on the connection that went to the exterior of their house, so check that out as well.

Dyer really hot, not drying clothes

Is the dryer tumbling? If not, you may have a broken belt or some other drive assembly issue.

Also, turn the dryer on and go outside to the vent discharge - you should feel air coming out at a pretty good clip. If not, the vent line is obstructed and will need to be cleaned out.

My lint trap has very little lint.

Older clothes do not produce as much lint as new ones. Also, if your dryer isn't getting as hot as it used to, then you won't get as much lint either. Does it seem to take a bit longer to dry your clothes? Also, check your dryer vent, if the airflow is reduced, the amount of lint that is expelled through the filter will deminish as well. You may have a build up of lint in the vent ducting to the outside that is restricting airflow.
