This clicking noise is the relay on the side of the compressor. It has been damaged and not working properly. Simply replacing this should be able to start your compressor! I would be VERY surprised if this was not the problem based on your description. I looked up your model number and this is the part number you need - 8201786. This is a kit and the only way to get this part. The instructions should tell you everything you need to know. If I can be of further assistance let me know! good luck!

Check to see if the sensor in the freezer compartment is encased in ice. If so, do a complete defrost and restart the unit. Another possibility is a bad thermostat and/or sensor.

Freezer not freezing clicking noises

Almost certainty you have a rear control board fault these boards where notorious for capacitor faults causing relays to click and water dispenser to be erratic , the board can be repaired by a confident electrical engineer or you can buy a complete unit

My whirlpool refrigerator/freezer is not cooling. lights come on, fan comes on...don't hear compressor coming on, not sure. coils are clean (they are in front). Don't know what to do next.

Switch off the fridge for few hours then before you you switch on check the continuity of the main power cord to the compressor which comes thrrough the main relay. Now the relay is activated by the thermostat/pressure switch/defrost timer.
So you will be able to trace the path of the power to activate the compressor. however if the relay clicks and shuts off the the capacitor must be checked or replaced. However if there is a heavy drain of current- use a clamp tester meter- the compresssor can be a suspect.
Please check this link for a idea of the parts.

These models have two fans. One is located inside the unit. The fan inside blows air across the cooling coils. With the door open this fan is usually running other than defrost cycle. If this fan has stopped it will cause the compressor to overheat and the relay will cycle.

The second fan equally as important is located under a fiberboard cover accessible from the back of the unit at the bottom. This fan is usually noticeable by an air flow sound. Usually air flow is detectable out of the front grill. If this fan fails to operate, blocked due to a major build up of lint the compressor will overheat and cycle as you hear,

Hope this helps?

Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

The black pod is the compressor and the switch on the side is the compressor start relay. You either have a failed relay or a locked up compressor.
Most likely it is a burned out relay.
Unplug the fridge and remove the relay from the compressor.
Shake it. If it sounds like a lot of loose pieces are rattling around in it, it is burned out.
Be sure you replace it with the correct replacement part. A "fit-all" relay may work for a while then cause the compressor to fail.
Your model number has 106 in front of it. You will need to know that when looking up or ordering parts.
Post back if you have any questions.
