How to format Hard drive/flash drive

This is a tip explaining step by step how to format your Hard drive. This is as easy as 1 - 2 -3, so lets get the ball rolling.

Firstly, you need to know that this method can also be used with Flash drives, MP3 players, basically any removable drive.

If the drive you would like to follow is a internal Hard drive, and you would like to format it to NTFS format, here is how we do it. Remember, that you will not be able to format your C(System) drive, because, then you will delete your operating system, hence, all other drives can be formatted.

Open "My Computer" and follow these steps:

The drive shown above is your C(System) drive, If you want to format this drive, you will need to do this when you attempt a clean install of windows.

Say you want to format your flash drive, insert the flash drive into your USB port, and open "My Computer". My flashdrive is Labeled Lexar(H)

Now just follow these steps.

Now you are done, the drive has been formatted. Remember, this also works on internal Hard drives, but not your system drive.

Hope you can find this helpful.

Please rate accordingly.

Kind regards

How i format my 16gb data traveler

If your computer is XP, Vista or Windows 7, right click on the "My Computer" icon,
then left click on "Manage", on the left side list left click on :"Disk Management".
If your fash drive is pluged in and detected it will appear on the list of drives.
Look for the 16GB drive, then left click to have a list of option to perform on
the drive. Select "Format" and a pop-up window will appear for formatting options.
I recommend "Fat 32", as it is best for normal transport or backup option.

I have purchased a new one Kingston 16GB Data traveler 101, but this not working . How can you solve my problem. pksharmadps@yahoo.com

Insert it into the USB port, at rear of your computer or if you are using a laptop try different ports.
Now if your computer/laptop works with other USB devices, then we can assume that USB Support has been enabled in the BIOS/CMOS.
Double click on My Computer while the USB drive is in your computer/laptop. Right click on the USB Drive and select format. If you do have information on your drive it will be lost!!! Do a backup first.
Format your drive using either FAT32 or NTFS, if NTFS is available then use it as it is a better Allocation table format.
If this procedure can't be done, navigate to the control panel and Double Click Administrative Tools.
Now double click Computer Management. Under the storage field, select disk management.
Select your USB FLASH DRIVE, Right Click and select format.

Your drive should be ready for use.
If it is still not detected you could try it in a friends computer/laptop.
Alternatively you can take it back to the company/person that you bought it from as it may fall under warranty/guarantee.

Best Wishes!
Thanking you

I have sd card which when I inserted in card reader it is telling it is not formated what to do

If there is data/photos on the card you need to save. Try downloading them with the card in the camera via the USB cable first. this will save your data. Then try formating the card either on the camera or your PC. Sometimes the cards get corupt and it is cheaper to replace them in the long term as this may happen again.

This could have happened by removing the card while the camera was on or by not using the card eject mode on your PC.

Sandisk 16 GB USB Drive wont accept large files says disk is full

What is the USB drive formatted as? Look in My Computer then right click the USB drive, select Properties. See what it says under "File System". My guess is the drive is formatted as FAT32. Now FAT32 has a size limitation of 4GB for a single file, which would explain the error. To get over this you need to reformat the USB drive as NTFS. Then it will accept the 6.95GB file. You can format the drive by right clicking it again and selecting "Format" ... choose NTFS from the drop down menu. Be aware that any data already on the drive will be wiped by the format so be sure to back it up before formatting.

How do i format my novatech B750

Just use a bootable CD and boot up with it, you'll come to a stage where you're asked to format your HDD.Or bootable flopy disk, when in command prompts you type format e: and press enter Or you could remove the HDD and use a external USB casing and use other PC to Quick format your HDD. Note:If you're trying to format your Laptop HDD, I will suggest that you get the all driver information for the hardwares before installing a new operating system. Because when new fresh installation is done you will be asked for the drivers for CD-rom, key board etc...

My pc is not recognising my connected sandisk cruzer control stick?

Solution for ALL PCs with USB 2.0 ports.

1. Move it to the PRIMARY USB port.
2. Check your BIOS configuration to make sure your USB ports are enabled
3. Assign an IRQ to the USB ports ( this is done by Y/N setting in the BIOS )
4. Download and install service pack 2 ( usb 2.0 is enabled by installing service pack 2 )

I'm not sure what you have done but.

Right click my computer
select manage

on the left side of the computer management window
see disk management

now on the right side where the disk management is open
find the usb drive from the list of drives, right click on all paritions of the usb drive and select delete partition, ones all parititons are deleted right click in the empty space and create a new partition.
it should work as normally, normal size.
