Cub 5234d shut down like you turned key off now it wont start

Check all your safety switches. There is likely one under the seat. Mine has one in the lever area that activates the blades. Also one if you don't push the clutch. to start. Mine also has one if you put it in reverse and don't release the cutting blades.I undo mine one at a time till I find the bad one. Of coarse put them back before operating the machine.

Craftsman Model Number: 917.377151 motor shuts down when blades engaged

The engaging of the mowdeck is cause an excessive demand of your engine. From that, we can assume your problem is in the deck. Since the power drive is all about belts and it threw the belts, from your information I can only deduce that either an object (stick-wood-rock) has wedge into a position that has stopped rotation of the blades. Also, each blade has a pulley/spindle. These have bearings which must be free to rotate.
A bearing failure or seizing can also cause the problem you report.

Follow safety rules in your manual to insure the engine cannot start. Attempt to rotate each blade to check for free rotation. If the do not you most likely will need to remove the mower deck and check further. An obstruction or seized spindle should be easy to determine and sit repair is easily possible.

Engine starts idle well and sshut off when attempt engage blades

Chances are one of two sensors is broken or out of adjustment.
Either will cause engine shutdown when blades are engaged.
The first is the seat sensor. If you rise out of the seat with the blades engaged, the engine will die. That sensor is usually a switch located under the seat. The second is the Reverse lever (Or gear position). Newer tractors will shut off if operated in reverse with the blades engaged. This sensor may be more difficult to find, but it is usually another switch located around the gear shifter (or hydrostatic control lever).

How come I can't start my John Deere LA115 after

The Reverse Interrupt Override switch is supposed to let you keep the blades engaged while using reverse. Be sure PTO is off and brake pedal is depressed and try to start engine. If it wont start/ wont crank then a switch is stuck or failed or there is a broken wire. Switches that are involved with PTO operation are the seat switch, reverse switch, PTO switch, and RIO switch. The starting system requires neutral ( no reverse activated), brake switch and PTO switch off.

I have a 2007 hyundai sonata limited v6 fully loaded. i went to drive it started it up and put it in reverse and it slipped something terrible i then put it in drive and it didn't move. i then proceeded to...

I think your torque converter IS the problem. Because it's the only thing that attaches the engine to the transmission and it's designed to "lock up" at highway speeds for overdrive. If it locks up at idle it will kill the engine. If it locks up at slow speeds ( < 35mph ) the vehicle will lurch/buck... And if it wont move in forward or reverse I would say it's time for a new/rebuilt transmission

Ok i have a problem with lt 1000 craftsman lawnmower. the tractor starts up runs great just when you put in gear or try to put blades in motion it shuts down can someone plz help

check for a safety switch near your shift handle for the gears . most have a kill switch for when your mowing and go to drive in reverse with the blades on . when you go to do this it puts the shift handle against a metal switch that closes a normally open circut that ends up grounding the coil to kill the engine .. easiest thing to try and dont cost to try . is to unplug this ( temporary ) my mtds have 2 wires not sure if craftsman has these or not . but if so just unplug it and it should work and run like normal if this is what the issue is .

Engine shuts down when pedal is released, and when pto is ingaged

check your Reverse Gear engage switch and PTO (blades engaged switch), either a bad switch(es) or short in wiring indicating that you are in Reverse with the blades engaged. Is there an override function so that you can mow in reverse? Check that circuit vs. the PTO and reverse gear. good luck

New troy bilt mower (pony) when you put it in reverse and engaugethemower the engine will die. Is this a safety feature and if so can itbedisconnected, cant always mow going forward

It is a safety feature. You can disconnect it if you want. Where ever you place the tractor in reverse there will be a switch . Try disconnecting the switch an use a piece of wire to act as a jumper. You will put the piece of wire with insulation on it so it doesn't short out into the ends of the wire harness that is comming to the switch. Once the jumper is installed try starting the tractor and engage the blades and put in reverse. If it does not shut off and runs alright then you can cut the end off of the wire and using a wire connector join the two wires and wrap with electrical tape. YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL AFTER YOU DO THIS BECAUSE THE BLADES WON'T SHUT OFF WHEN IN REVERSE!!!
Let me know if this helps.
