I'm sorry, it took about 5 hours to download the Windows Vista 3.0 program. Yhen it was bed time. Then work. Yes I have a dell inspiron 1501 with windows vista home basic. Going to ask dad how to log in as administrator:) and try it again. I will get back to you after i have tried and update you either way. PS Thank you so much for your help so far. Ally

Just talked to him and he said I am the administrator. It's my personal computer. Is there something else I should do?

  • allybandy Apr 11, 2008

I can't get the F8 button to do anything, I've tried it 4 times now. The last time the computer went into a fix error mode. Am I doing it wrong? I hit the start button and then the F8 button but it still just takes me to the same login start page. No safe mode window.

Sorry if it sent multiple posts to your site but I always hit the send or post key only once. I had trouble this past week with multiple windows appearing????Don't know if it is related.

    Thank You Ally

  • allybandy Apr 11, 2008

I give up. I tried 6 more times and F8 does nothing. I think I will just return the program. Thank you somuch though for trying to help. Ally

Problem solved. An Online friend suggested this and it worked. I thought I would pass it on to you. On the program set up page, I right clicked the Autorun tab. That brought up the option to run as Administrator. All I can say is it worked. Again thanks for your considerable effort and time. I hope this doesn't send you another batch of multiple posts. Ally

Sorry, Vista is giving a lot of people headaches lol. It's all I've worked with so I am comfortable. I've been learning a lot for just trial and error. I would love to have given you a better rating, you were superb at what you did do;) if they separated the rating you'ld have gotten 100+ for effort and kindness. (My Vista Manual doesn't tell how to get Admin login either. Maybe it's not possible.)

You have Windows Vista, right? It is said that the failure on Windows Vista is caused by a custom action that fails with an access denied error. In other words your installation tried something Vista was not prepared for. Here is a link with a fix that is known to work:

    I hope you beat this.

On 2nd glance, that solution would be very difficult for you to work around with. I'll keep looking for one for you.

I never did hear back about what operating system. You are using Vista, right?

When you install software on Vista, you Have To be logged in as Administrator, first off. Try that and get back to me, because the other fixes I found would require you to get someone you know whose computer literate to make them work. Here's a link to one page I visited with some cures. Don't try them yourself. If I had Vista I would try them myself and give you detailed instructions. But I'll stick to XP Pro until the next operating system after Vista.

Yes, start the computer, press F8, and go into safe mode. Log in by clicking on Administrator, and try to install the software.

You have to log in as Administrator, not as just a user with Administrator privileges.

PS When you send a reply, please just send it once. Don't keep clicking send. lol! I got eight of these from you. No harm done, everything is a good lesson. Best wishes.

Your keyboard is stuck maybe, the Return key pretty much for sure, or the left button on your mouse. Who knows, maybe the F8 key also. Get your Dad to clean it, he'll get it working. Then, when you start up the computer, wait about 5 seconds and Then press the F8 key, but do not hold it down. It's OK to press it a few times, however.

I'm glad. I tried, but I don't know Vista. Are you going to give me a rating, at least?

I purchased Print Workshop 2009 at a store yesterday and was wondering if I am not missing a disk and some directions in the box? I would like to know what it "should contain". It only has one...

No doubt what you have purchased is a DVD. To install the program you will need a DVD/ROM drive. (If you only have a CD drive, it will not install.)

When you install it, there will be "Help" available on the program, perhaps even a tutorial also.

try to verify if your ROM can read DVD disc, or may be the disc is damage.

try to insert your software to other DVD rom to manually check the printworkshop. if read then, you DVD rom got error or what so ever causes. maybe it a system failure.

If you are sure that your ROM is working properly, then you have to consult the vendor of the print workshop.

may this help,

When I try to install the Print Workshop 2008 I am prompted to place a disc in the drive and the installation disc is already in the drive.

Here is the problem: the disk drive simply isn't reading the disc. Here are some suggestions:
  1. Make sure the side of the disk with the writing is on the TOP.
  2. Take computer to computer specialist. Sometimes disk readers go out for no reason at all.

I cannot install Print Workshop 2008. I have tried going to RUN, and installing device updates, but nothing works. Am I out $20. I had a problem with Print Workshop 2004 but at least I could install...

Usually you just put the CD in the drive and it automatically runs. Do you have more than one CD? Sure you're starting with the right one? Once you have the CD in the drive, double click on My Computer, then double click on the Compac Disk drive icons. If that doesn't start it, it will at least display the names of the files on the CD. Look for the Setup program and double click on that. Good luck.
