Question about Husqvarna 23 Hp 48" Deck Yard Tractor
I'm having same problem. I think it's the switch, Running the system reads 14.6 volts. pull the switch No power to the lead that goes to PTO. if I jump 12v to the clutch the PTO engages fine. also changed the relay. Just wondering if there may be some other safety switch I may be missing? Hopefully it's just the switch. I dont know the likelyhood of those going bad the mower has tractor has 500 hours on it and looks damn near new.

you may hav a bad alt. problem with the mower dying when you engage the pto is most likley a bad sensor or wire unplugged on the seat sensor.the way it works is if the blades are turning and it dosent sense you being on the seat the mower shuts down.this has been standard on mowers for quite a few years now. it keeps the blades from cutting you up if you fall off the seat while mowing. as for charging i would try cleaning the battery connections and get the battery checked first.

It sounds like your charge system is not working. If you jump the battery the engine will run with a weak battery but the pto clutch needs a strong battery to stay engaged.Try this to test it,after you jump it leav the jumper cables hooked up and try to engage the blade clutch,if it runs it is either a battery that wont take a charge or a charge system not working. If you put a volt meter on the battery while the engine is running and the voltage is 13 volts the charge system is working and the battery is bad.

the coil in the electric PTO shorts out when it expands by heat causing it to lose it's magnetic pull and disengages- I hate to say it,but you need a new PTO clutch.
