Installed the DEH-1900MP in my son's 96 Buick Skylark.  CD's will play, but radio will not.  Previous stock Delco radio played fine in the Skylark.  The 1900MP was previously in a 95 Mazda and radio played fine.  Is there some setting that we are overlooking or is there some other issue.  I checked all connections and all are connected according to specs for 1900MP and wiring harness.  Any suggestions?

Are you using the factory wires in the VW to install the stereo? You may have to re-wire the speakers and power, ground wires, etc. with new wire. In a car that old, the wires are probably in bad condition - especially where you can't see. Hope this helps...

The yellow wire from the stereo should be connected to a constant 12volt power source (battery). This controls memory for the stereo.

No power to radio after new battery installed

It sounds like you had a power spike when you installed the new battery. I would check the 2 factory fuses for the radio, one will be for the radio ignition lead and one will be just battery lead (usally assosiated with the clock). Lastly if those 2 fuses were ok you may have to pull the deck and check the fuse in the back of the deck.

If the fuses are all ok and no wires are disconnected, then its possible that something else went out. Good luck and take care!

''Pioneer DEH 1900MP 2 second gap between songs on CD''

that isn't the radio doing this...all recorders insert this 2sec gap as the default setting.  Some recorders you can adjust this.  All store bought CDs have this too.

Try resetting the unit. Look in your owner's manual to find where the "RESET" button is located. If you don't have the manual, you can go to pioneerelectronics.com and download one. Hope this helps...

Radio problems

does the radio also go out?
if not, then you miss wired something as in the orange wire or your after market wireharness adaptor is incorrect.
Recommend buying a repair manual to double check proper wiring

DEH-1900MP - lost functionallity after disconect/connect batery

Yes for some radio's if you take away power it has a theft lock and will not let you back in except if you have the code. To reset you must take power away from it. I would suggest if you don't want to take cd player out of car then disconnect battery. then when reconnect eject. May have to set for a moment.
