Question about Dell Inspiron B130 Notebook

Is it possible to replace headphone jack on laptop?

Every so often the right side audio will cut out and it is easilly fixed by taking out headphones and inserting them back in. I'm a DJ though so I really don't want this going on during a set. Can i replace this myself or is it something I have to have it sent in for?

Did you try another headphone? If the jack on the laptop is faulty it can be replace relatively cheaply and at home if you know how to solder carefully but the main problem is dismantling the laptop and putting it back correctly. This will cost you major labor charges. But you can try and get a service manual online and attempt it yourself. I know when I did this first time long time ago it wasn't that difficult.

Try a new set of headphones and if the issue still persist, the contact point inside the earphone port might be damaged which will lead to motherboard replacement since the earphone port is integrated with the mobo.

I can't get sound through my headphones on my Bravia kdl-52xbr5 tv. First time I have tried to hook up the headphones which are sharper image wireless

I take it the headphones are charged up and known to be in good working order? Are you using the 3.5mm headphone jack on the side of the TV or the white and red RCA jacks labeled AUDIO OUT (VAR/FIX)? If using the headphone jack the TV should shut off the internal speakers and output to the headphones. If using the mentioned RCA jacks you need to go into the audio options settings and set to Audio System. Also under audio settings, Audio Out, you can pick Fixed or Variable. If you opt for Fixed you will use the headphones to adjust the volume. If you opt for Variable you can control the headphone volume and muting using your TV remote control. Just make sure you have the headphone volume turned up adequately.

Headphone jack doesn't work

It could be there is dust in your jack. Cut down a Q-Tip and stick it in. If that doesn't fix it, it could possible be the jack has gone out. There are USB sound cards that would provide a jack.

Korg triton extreme synth. L/r outputs work fine by themselves put plug in both right side cuts out using headphone jack instead if you pull the right slightly out of input you get both sides working

I need more info to correctly troubleshoot this. However my best guess from what your telling me is that its either the Audio jack on the Korg or the headphones. If everything else is working properly replace the headphones and the Audio outputs. Post again with more details if that does not work

Right side of bose headphone is not working

I have fixed over 500 headphones. Its the plug that connects to audio devices.
Take a look at it http://images.appleinsider.com/ipodiphoneav-review-5.jpg
http://sound.westhost.com/p70-f2.gif
Look at the Standard stereo headphone. When you plug it and unplug it from your audio/music device,
the little 3 or 4 wires disconnect. The smaller the headphone, the more chance this will happen.
To revive your headphone, you have to cut it and re solder the wires to the plug.
follow this step because I don't know how to explain it to you and make you understand it.

Hi,,in most cases what causes one side of the headphone to work is because, the wire that is connected to speaker inside the headphone might have cut and it's not contacting properly.

What you will need to do is to open up the head phone (left),and check if the wire inside has not cut, If it has removed ,then you will need to put it back with soldering iron and a lead...

But if the wire inside has not removed and they are intact, then you will have to replace the left speaker .

Hope that helps...

Thanks for using fixya...

Your headphone jack connections have broken inside, cutting off the speaker and one side od the audio, left or right. The jack needs to be replaced or resoldered.

Except for the Headphone jack (mini-jack) and the coax audio, all of the audio jacks are audio IN. Which jack do you have your speakers connected to? The headphone jack is on the side next to the coax connection (ANT) and the coax audio out is at the bottom of that set of side jacks. The headphone mode should automatically cut the TV speakers. The coax audio out is set up by pressing Menu and then using the down arrow to highlight Audio. Then press the right arrow button to enter the submenu. Press the up or down arrow to reach SPDIF. Then you use the left and right menus to select PCM, Digital Dolby or OFF.

I hope this helps.

If you use the headphone jack a lot and your missing the audio from the speaker and one channel from the headphone jack, then it's possible that some of the headphone jack connections have broken off of the PC board. The audio goes to the speaker through the headphone jack.

Please see this link for more info and read the section about the headphone jack.

Replacement connector for Sennheiser PX 250 doesn't work...

The bare copper conductor wire is the screening/common earth to the two signal wires of green and red. The important connection is the copper wire which goes to the jack plug earth which is the section furthest from the tip. The other two are the left and right signal connections. If you get these the wrong way round you will just have to swap them over. Check if they are the right way round by using the balance control on your amplifier or whatever. Have you checked that the problem is not with the headphone amplifier within your equipment? Don't rely on OK sound from loudspeakers as the headphones may be fed from separate op-amp output chip. Try another pair of cheap and cheerful headphones to make sure.
