Question about General Electric WSSH300G Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Machine washes but doesn't spin or drain water on any cycle

We ran a load of wash with a lot of hair in it. I cleaned the hair from the washer machine itself and tried to run another load. The machine would fill with water, agitate and then stop. The start light blinks and the door unlocks. Pushing the start light does not get the machine to start again. We have emptied the boot and it is good and clean.

I have run the diagnostic checks and they seem to work, but still the machine stops at the same place and in the same way. And it does this in all the cycles.

What should I try next?

Have you removed the lower hoses to the pump from the tub to see if the pump is plugged,i just finished 1 that a lady washed a rug and it plugged the hoses and stalled the pump,if water cant flow it will sense this and drain and spin will not work

No, I haven't done that. But I can go into diagnostic mode and do the high spin and the water will spin out. So I think that the hoses are ok. But tomorrow when I have my helpers, I can try that.

  • cnybeth Jun 03, 2010

We have already taken the hose off the boot end of the pump. That end is clean and the fan moves freely. Today we took off the hose from the other end of the pump and that area was clean also. I also disconnected the electrical connection from the back of the pump for 1 minute to see if that would reset it.

I ran a final spin cycle and all it did was soft tumbles back and forth, then stopped and once again the start light blinked at me.

    So any other suggestions?

possibly, the control board in the unit is defective, but remove all the panels first, then remove all the (small Ribbon Cables) connected to the control panel and with the unit (UNPLUGGED) unplug the ribbon cables and check for any corrosion on these pins and plug them back in, as moisture will corrode these connections inside the unit

  • cnybeth Jun 03, 2010

What do you mean by all the panels? Is that the metal side panels or something else?

  • danny Hendrickson Jun 04, 2010

remove any panels that you can see wires going to that may hide connections

I had repair man come yesterday. The code that was beeping was for the door lock. When he tested the door lock, it tested ok. But he has found that usually that is bad and not the control board. So he swapped it out and now the washher goes into the drain and spin mode that it wouldn't go into before.

The hair and the door lock not working were probably just a coincidence, not a cause and effect.

    Thanks for your help!

Won't drain and showing F 01

Good Day,
Your washing machine is fully automatic?
the washing cycle is normal?
if yes do the same maybe it will help you.
for the fully automatic washing machine mostly have drain pump, please check the filter of your drain pump, how? remove the cup of your drain pump like a ordinary cup, screw it clock wise or counter clock wise.
Remove drain pump filter and clean it, some hair pins, cotton buds or coins or any small item that coz of clog up.
if your washing machine dont have drain pump ,but fully automatic check the drain motor if running or not? how? open the back cover for top loader washing machine only, select spin cycle and press start to see the drain motor running? the drain motor is like a small box with small wire to pull the lever of the drain to remove water inside, if the motor running or pull the lever of the water pipe but water still inside the washing machine, remove the drain cup or cover and clean it or check if have coin or cloth inside that coz of clog or water stuck,
if the drain pump or drain motor is weak this is will cause and long time draining or totally not running the drain pump or drain motor and its cause of totally stop the cycle of washing machine in rinse time or spin time, because all fully automatic washing machine, after washing cycle the drain pump or drain motor must be on, to remove water before start the next cycle. rinse or spin cycle.

Spinning cycle

Keeping in mind that the soap & bleach gets dispensed into your wash on the second to last rinse cycle and that most all rinse cycles are in cold water. Is your cold water valve screen plugged causing your washer to rinse poorly? Are you using the HE detergent? If not maybe the washer is sudsing up to much and having a hard time rinsing all the suds and bleach out and leaving the clothes soapy.

Fill the washer up with no clothes in it on a cold/cold wash setting does it take a long time to fill the washer up? Also when it is full and agitating is there suds in the washer?

Last suggestion is if the drain is hose is a lot higher than the top of the washer it might have a hard time draining out all of the soap water before the next load

Washer will not spin at all no code . will drain and tumble back and forth, when it comes time to spin it turns off.

A washing machine is basically a big tub that repeatedly fills with water and then drains, spins to wring clothes dry, and has a device for stirring things up-- either an agitator in the middle of a top-load machine or a rolling drum in the case of a front-loader.
The four cycles that every washer performs are fill, wash, drain, and spin. Though these functions are pretty basic, a number of things can go wrong with them.
There are a number of problems that you can fix quite simply; some issues, however, are better left in the hands of an appliance repairperson.Problems that commonly occur with a clothes washer are discussed in depth below. If your washer doesn't run, be sure it's plugged in and that the receptacle works (the circuit hasn't overloaded). Before working on the washing machine, be sure to unplug it.
To prevent problems, follow good maintenance procedures. Use the right amount of detergent for your washer and your water hardness, make sure the machine is level, and don't overload it for the cycle chosen.

Washing Machine Does Not Fill
If the washer doesn't fill, the water inlet screens may be blocked. Clean or replace them. (Check your owner's manual for the location of the screens; they're often located at one end of the supply hoses, or you may have to remove a panel to access them.) Other reasons for not filling may be that either the timer or temperature selector is broken--both of these are repairs for an appliance repairperson.

Washer Does Not Spin
If your washer doesn't spin, check to see if the clothes have jammed or are unbalanced in the drum before calling a repairperson. Unbalanced clothes will also cause a w
asher to shudder or "walk." If straightening out the load doesn't stop the washer from shaking, look at the feet underneath and be sure they are properly adjusted to keep the washer sitting level on the floor (you just turn them to move them up or down).
Clothes Are Wet After Spin Cycle
If your clothes remain wet after your washer's spin cycle, perform the following diagnostics:
1) Lift the lid during the spin cycle. If the tub is not spinning, you may have a damaged motor coupler. Call a repairperson to replace this part.
2) If the tub is spinning, recheck the load to make sure it is balanced. If you are certain the load is balanced but your clothes are still wet, you may need to call a repairperson to replace a damaged motor pulley, tub bearing, belt, or clutch.

3) You can also follow the troubleshooting steps outlined in "Washing Machine Doesn't Drain." You may have a problem with your drain hose or pump.

Washer wil not spin or drain out after cycle completed

sounds like drain is plugged. this is a fairly easy fix,and you actually get paid to do it. unscrew the bottom panel of your washer should be 3 screws on the very bottom then you will see a white plug that is about 2 1/2" unscrew it (make sure you have a bowl under it water will leak ) and pull it out. this is where you get paid you will find all kinds of change and junk just clean it out reinstall and your clothes will be a lot drier after the spin cycle

Washer problem

Inspect the drain hose, see if there is any obstruction.
Try to understand if the machine does not drain at all or if the cycle is not completing , and timer stops before completinc cycle.

If the machine is not draining, then, once you check the drain hose and see no obstruction in there, it can be a faulty drain pump, or a faulty water level switch. If machine instead does not complete the cycle, it is a faulty timer/programmer.

See here for more detailed explanation: It won't drain
