Hello Woolfmoon.Despite the fact I have long since thrown away all my documentation on this machine since is an analog machine and is quite old (but a good machine),and despite the fact that I cannot tell you the entire specifics of that particuliar erroe code because I dont have the manual, and despite the fact that I am graded on how well I help you out and "FIXYA", I will give a decent accessment. SC 544 has to do with the fuser. A temperature error ocurred (under/over.....time frame). Because of the intense and potentially dangerous heat that is intentionally generated @ the fuser there are many aspects of the fuser's characteristics that are monitored. Even general power conditions in the copier's enviroment can cause the safety monitors related to the fuser to generate an error as the safeguards are very sensitive. You can reset the code in the event it was generated erroneously or the problem has been resolved. Your copier has to believe that a "technician" fixed the problem so I will tell you how to do that. Press "clear/modes(yellow button) , then press the numbers "1 0 7" and then press the round orange stop button and hold it down until you see the the display change and begin to flash. For example the display area that would normally show you the number of copies you had requested should be flashing if you had successfully entered "service mode". So to be nore clear.......use your index finger as your brain and press CLEAR/MODES then 1 then 0 then 7 then hold down orange start button foe several seconds till the display changes. THEN....... :-)........turn off the main power (if you are in doubt unplug that baby). This will tell the copier to chill out and try to reboot again as if nothing was ever wrong. But if the problem still exists the copier will shut down again and give an error code. If that occurs you have a genuine and potentially dangerous problem in the fuser. I hope I helped a little, and wish to have helped you alot. Take care. Let "Fixya" know if I was of any help at all please.............SPINAL

Lanier 5645 copier - Code sc546

Try this press the "yellow/ca" botton, then enter 1-0-7, then press and hold the "red" stop" till the display changes. Once, it changes turn the Main power switch OFF. Not the one on the control pannel. Let it power down then turn it back ON. If the problem is still there try to turn the copier Off again and unplug the sorter/ finisher and turn the copier back ON. Is the problem gone, if so you may have to get a service person come in and repair the sorter. Good Luck.....

Ricohh 450. Error code E544 or E-5 comes up. What can I do to fix

This is a fuser error code. Sometimes it is caused by a mis-reading. Use the procedure below to reset this machine.

Press the yellow "clear modes" key then pres 1, 0, 7, then press AND HOLD the red "clear stop" key until the screen changes. After the screen changes, turn the machine off at the red switch on the front of the machine. Turn it back on.

If the code comes back you will have to call a service tech to troubleshoot and replace parts.

Here you go. If you have no underlying problems this should work. If it comes right back, you have a fuser problem.

  1. Turn the power off.
  2. Locate the Clear Button, which is grey in color, in the upper right corner above the green Start Button.
  3. Locate the Auto Button the lower left corner of the Control Panel.
  4. Turn the power back on.

  7. Program the copier as if you were going to make 14 copies.
  8. Press the green [Start] button to store the reset code. The copier will return to the ready position.
  9. Run a test copy.

E544 code

A E544 code is a sorter problem if it is a Canon copier. If it is a Canon look to see if the stapler has a jamed staple it and remove it. The front door of the sorter should have a picture to show how to remove it or remove a jam. If the bins are stuck or broken thry to turn the copier Off and unplug the sorter and turn the copier back on if it clears try to turn it Off and reinstall the sorter plug and turn it back On. If the code comes back try to see if you can detach the soter from the main body of the copier and unplug it from the back of the copier and make a exit tray for the copier. Good Luck

Hello e3tech, faatmaan has given you some valuable and accurate information. I would like to offer you some additional information that may help. i am not sure to what degree you have technical experience regarding problems as deep as you are experiencing. I just want to try to help you starting with the basics. We can get the proton accelerator out as a last resort. :-) In the event you have not tried to reset the code (which you can in the event that this code was a temporary condition or erroneous to start with) let me walk you thru the process of resetting the code and lets see if the copier can recover without going into the ugly (but prehaps necessary) and expensive stuff. Again I am just trying to help and this is the first thing anyone should do. We need to enter service mode, usually accessed by the expensive on site technician but you can handle it. This is the first thing I would do if I was onsite. I have been working on copiers for 20 years, which may merely mean I have been on a reign of terroe for that long, screwing everything up! LOL .Ok in order to enter sevice mode on your machine you will need to press the yellow button marked "clear modes" then then numbers 1-0-7 in slow but firm sequence, and the the orange stop clear button and hold IT down tull the screen changes and you will hear a beep. Once again......Clear modes, then 1>0>7 (in sequence) then hold down the orange stop/clear button till the screen changes and you hear a beep. (note....the beep is not guaranteed as it can be turen off prior to what we are doing but you will see the screen change). the new screen may say a number of things but for sure it will have a block named copier. Press that block which will bring up another new screen with all kinds of stuff that you need not be concerned with. The fact that you are at this screen is the cool thing. At this point, turn the main power swith off....!!!!!! THE ONE NEXT TO YOUR LEFT KNEE!!!!!! not the one on the op panel. Unplugging the copier will do the same if you are unsure. The point is to totally de-energize the copier. Turn the copier back on, and this point it will know that some one who knows what they are doing it attempting to help it recover andthe copier will wake up witha new outlook on life and will try to successfully restart back to normal. Without the steps we just went through the copier would have not went through the servicr mode process required foe it to truly have a chance to recover. When you turn it back on, the copier will look at all the critical sub systems it monitors before it feels comfortable to say "READY". In this case the errer code has to do with the very high temperature area called the fuser. As you probably understand, the manufacturer of the copier has designed the copier to keep close tabs on this area as to not burn down your building. So id there is any oddity in this area the machine throws a temper tantrum. So, lets hope hope the machine restarts, and it was a temporary thing , and you wont have to go the route that faatmaan suggested, which again may be absolutely accurate and well detailed. I just thought we could try the reset and hope for the best as it is a genuine and viable option and alot less expensive. I wish you the best. By the way, in the future, ALL error codes you get in the future(and there..are a hell of alot of them) can be reset in the manner I described ealier. This can be a big help for you . It just so happens that this and a few others in the "500" series are less likely to stay reset. I hope I have helped save you alarge wad of cash, but a minimum you are armed with a few valuable tools that may save you buttocks in the future. Take care.................. SPINAL
