Missing cd drive icon

Hi, i can't use my cd drive, because my cd drive icon is missing......can you help me pls, how i can start using my cd drive?

if it did turn off with a bsod(blue screen of death) then the problem was with ur hardware or the hardware drivers in this case the rom drive
consider a replacement of the drive if it's in warranty but before that try updating the drivers of the rom

CD/DVD Drive Icon Is Missing


When your CD/DVD icon is missing from the my computer window and your CD/DVD drive is no longer reading any type of media, please follow this simple steps:
Microsoft Windows XP
Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Then, delete the upper and lower filters

Click Start, and then click All Programs. Click Accessories, and then click Run. Type regedit, and then click OK. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow. Hi, i just fix laptop dell latitude c600, my problem now is, missing system32 then i want to format it, the first boot on bios is diskette drive, i can't change it to cd drive, pls help... thanks


Press either of F12 or F2 to select the Boot Menu when the computer start with the Dell logo. Select CD/DVD using the arrow keys then Enter. Please comment if the information has been helpful. Thank you and regards.

My cd driver does not open and the icon is missing.


Your cd drive is not detecting. pls refix it.if it is not working then you can checked it by service center.

RE:NTLDR is missing(solution 1&2)


nt loader is missing well this is a file required to load windows,if you have a external cd rom you may boot the windows install cd,if the pc in question has a internal drive you can use this to repair windows,now if you have to install anything to this computer you will need this cd drive.

Hi,
go to device manager in control panel,system.
select the cd/dvd drive,right click it, bottom offer,un-install.un-install it.
reboot.
should be good.

My Cd dvd drive not working for Lenovo 3000 Y410 Laptop


ur lens is getting weak

pls try this take out the dvd from drive u will see a shiny eye like thing it is lens try to clean it in circular motions with very soft cloth used to clean lcd's and then try those dvd 's otherwise u have to get the drive replaced ur lens is weaken due to some faulty media and excessive use it is a normal wear and tear process

It seems to be a problem with your hard drive. Or your operating system files have been corrupted. If you do not have any critical data on the computer, I would go for a reinstall of windows

  1. Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD or DVD drive.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. While the computer is starting, repeatedly press F12 every 3 seconds to access the one-time boot menu.
  4. When the one-time boot menu appears, press the Down Arrow to highlight the CD-ROM option that appears, which is one of the following options: Onboard CD-ROM Drive or Onboard USB CD-ROM Drive.
  5. Press Enter.
  6. When the computer boots to the CD-ROM drive, press R to enter the Recovery Console.


» Repair the Missing NTLDR or NTDETECT File
  1. Boot the system to the Windows XP Recovery Console.

  2. Type map, and press <Enter>. Make note of the drive letter assigned to the optical (DVD or CD-ROM) drive.

  3. Type copy x:\i386\ntldr c:\ (where x is the drive letter for the optical drive), and press <Enter>.

  4. Type copy x:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\ (where x is the drive letter for the optical drive), and press <Enter>.

  5. If you are prompted to overwrite the file, type y, and press <Enter>.

  6. Type exit and press <Enter>.

  7. As the computer restarts, remove the Windows XP CD.
The files have been restored and the error message should be fixed.
