Hi lisa and metal,
I have good news and bad news...
The bad is that your lens assembly is Kaput.

The good is that Olympus will take the bad one and trade for another for $149.00 + tax, Free shipping and a free three year warranty, That's worth $60.00 alone ,ahhhh peace of mind.

I have a black scratch on the lenes. it doesn't seem like there is a scratch, but it comes out on all the pictures

It is better you replace the lense, although there are some menders who can grind the scratch and it completely disappears.

My camera lense won't go in. Everytime I switch it

Your batteries are too low.
When you switch on the camera, the lense go in. Then lense comes out fully. Then, if the batteries are low, lense goes in and camera turns off.
But if the batteries are too low, camera turns off before the lense retracts or even before the lense comes out fully.

I have my old lenes for my nikon f3 camera. can i use this lenes in any dslr cameras?

Yes. Almost every Nikon lens will fit on the current DSLRs. Most lenses of that vintage won't autofocus, of course. Also, they probably will not meter on Nikon cameras with an even number of digits after the D, like the D80 or D5000, and will require you to shoot in manual mode.

Also, most Nikon DSLRs have a sensor that is smaller than a frame of 35mm film. This means that only the central portion of the image area is used, in effect making each lens seem longer. A 200mm lens on a DSLR will give you about the same image that a 300mm lens would give you on a 35mm camera, for example. This lens multiplier does not apply to the D3 family and the D700.

When I turn on the camera the lenes goes in and out then i get a message on the screen Access turn off then power back on

I tried the solutions posted by StephanSA and my camera is fixed now. What I did was assisting with the motion of the lens and blew between the lens and casing and then dried up the lens with the help of a hair dryer (don't heat it up to much)....Thanks Stephan, you just saved me a few hundred dollars.

When I turn on my DSC W55 the lens does not open all the way. Is better to fix it or buy a new camera?

It usually cost more to repair digital cameras than investing in a brand new one. Before you decide to trash your camera and buy a new one try this.

Some dirt somhow gets on the outside of the lense and they would prevent the lense from opening or closing 100% as it normally does.

Clean around the lense and turn your camera off and on a few times. If the lense opened out 100%, you should be able to take pictures as you usually did. If NOT

turn on the camera and help the lense to open up by pulling the lense out NOT too hard. If the lense goes up and down you follow the lense motion (up and down and turn). If the lense opened up 100%, then turn the camera on and off a few times, it may work now.

If you have dropped the camera, some mechanical part of the lense mechanism is broken or disslocated. In that case, the lense has to be opend from the camera, inspect for broken parts or loose parts, and clean it up. If you put it back on the camera, it may work. Remember opening the lense is the absolute last thing you want to do. Most likely, you would make it worse than, before opening it.

If you decided to buy a new one and trash this camera, please send the camera to me. I will pay to you ONLY your shipping cost. I would try to fix it and learn more about the problem your lense have. I would be able to help the next person with the same problem better. my email address pourmp@yahoo.com.

GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!

How to fix a popped off lens

Try turning the camera on and off a few times. If it did not go in while turning it off gentely push the lense in. You might have to try this a few times. If the lense retracts, but not all the way in, push the lense a litte harder in. When the lense is 100% retracted, turn the camera back on, the lense should pop off. Your lense is probaly dirty. Need to clean it and keep it clean always.

Good luck
