The only adjusting available on this model are the ones that appear on screen in shooting mode when you press menu or ok button ..there are a few for iso...and for mode.and luminescence.....I think there is flash on and off..and size.....but if you get into the main menu there may be available other changes if you know exactly what you do ...browse them by category ..

FYI - The ZX1 and ZR1 are essentially the same camera.

When half press the shutter button, the camera immedietly snaps a picture, it does not focus on the object or get the correct exposure.

Yeah,why did you half press the shutter?When you take a photo,you should press the shutter with force quickly.I think you didn't set your Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5 Camera at a proper mode for the scene,shot with a correct the next time.Wish helpful to you.

Hello,
You may change your shutter speed in Manual mode only. So you should turn your mode dial button to M position. Then you may control both shutter speed and aparture value.
