Question about HP DeskJet 5150 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

There is a dark gray flexable flat plastic cable for lack of a better word that comments to the ink cartridges on the right hand side. It popped off. The tab at the end with a hole is in tact, and not torn. Where does it attach to? How do I reach the place where it attaches? Thank you very much.

This is the "belt" that pulls the print-heads across the page, as the page prints, line by line.

I recommend that you take the printer to a qualified technician, to see if it can be replaced. However, the cost for the technician's time could be LARGER than the cost for buying a new printer.

Changing ink cartridge

  • Here is an instruction set I found at http://www.ehow.com/how_4488808_replace-ink-cartridges-lexmark-x2500.html
  • Step 1 Press the "Power" button to turn on your Lexmark X2500 3-in-1 printer.
  • Step 2 Open the top portion of the printer to reveal the ink cartridges.
  • Step 3 Lift the gray plastic cover on the left. Remove the empty black #28 ink cartridge. Next, lift the purple plastic cover on the right and remove the empty color #29 ink cartridge.
  • Step 4 Remove the new black #28 ink refill cartridge from its packaging. Tear the protective strip of paper from the cartridge's sensor. Now, remove the new color #29 ink refill cartridge from its packaging and tear the protective strip of paper from the cartridge's sensor.
  • Step 5 Turn the cartridges so that you can read the label. This is the way the cartridges should face when being put into the printer.
  • Step 6 Slide the black #28 cartridge into the slot on the left side and push it down. Slide the color #29 cartridge into the slot on the right side and push down.
  • Step 7 Push the gray plastic cover down over the #28 cartridge until it clicks closed. Push the purple plastic cover down over the #29 cartridge until it clicks closed.
  • Step 8 Close the top portion of the printer. Your new ink cartridges are installed, and your printer is ready to use.

I changed the ink cartridge but after that the lights indicating "ink" near the stop button lights us every time i turn the printer on. Some body help me.

Check to make sure you have installed the cartridges the correct side up. The B side should be facing up with the bar code on the right hand side. The cartridges should be the medium gray and not medium blue.

How to change ink cartridge? mfc240c

The four ink cartridges on the Brother MFC-240C are located on the right side of the printer. Pull open the gray cover (there's a tab on the right side) and then you'll see a purple handle for each cartridge. Pull out the handle for the cartridge you want to replace, slide the cartridge out, then slide the new cartridge in (after removing it from the packaging and taking off the yellow plastic cover).

Once you insert the cartridge so it snaps in place and close the cover, the machine should recognize the new cartridge.

Dell 920 Printer is giving annoying horizontal white lines

We can try one more thing here...

    Cleaning the encoder strip...

    1. Turn the printer off.
    2. Take the power cable out from printer.
    3. Open the front cover .
    4. Using a dry, lint free cloth, pinch the encoder strip on the right-hand side of the cartridge carriage and pull your fingers across it toward the right-hand side of the printer.
Note: The encoder strip is a narrow band of clear plastic and can be difficult to see without direct lighting running parallel to metallic rod.
    5. You can move the ink cartridges manually to a side so that you can clean the strip completely.
    6. Close the cover, connect the power and turn on the printer and try again,

It should work....let me know if it does
