Playstation 3 not giving out a signal to tv- it powers up but wont give out picture or sound, it was working one day then has just stopped the next, tried plugging it in through the three seperate colour plugs, and using the scart adapter but neither work. any help or ideas to try to get it working would be greatly appreciated! thankyou

try to reset the video refresh output by holding down the power button with the switch in the back on position. hold the front power for 13 secs ..you should hear two beeps one 6 secs after the other. now turn the unit back on and the composite cables (yellow/red/white) should work

Make sure all the video cable connections are plugged firmly into the back of the PS3
The sound you are hearing indicates that you are on the right track. To get the video to work you will need to select the correct channel on your TV set. Connect the video cables (yellow) to the video INPUT of the AV port of your TV and then change to the AV channel on your TV set to view the picture.

Simple mate. When your loading up the playstation, hold the power button, until you hear the second beep, and it should restore to it's original settings.

SOURCE: No video or sound

Well...I assume that you are using A/V at your house and HDMI at your friends house? The best way to fix it is to hold the power button down for 3-5 seconds and you will hear 1 beep then continue to hold until you hear 2 beeps. When you hear 2 beeps let off and this will take you to the restore menu and resets your video settings. The funny thing with a PS3 it will automatically pick up that you have an HDMI cable hooked up but not that you have an A/V cable. So when you hook up your AV cable it still boots in HDMI format and it has to be reset. Don't buy your cable yet it will do the same thing.
