I have a local internet connection without any modem(by ethernet cable)..i want to connect Netgear WGR614v9 router...can u help me out

You do not want to connect as a router, there is one upstream from you. You want a switch. This is similar to a splitter. Just hook your plug from the wall to it, and then plug each unit in.

If you need Wireless, you would not plug the network cable from the wall into the normal Wan or internet port, but as if it were another computer. Set your wireless security and limit free access.

Sometimes you have to "dumb down" a router to not autiomatically assign addresses, but I doubt it in your case.

if your modem has an ethernet connection the drivers should be on the disk provided by the internet provider

hope this helps

Lost install disk

You don't even need the installation disk! Just do these easy steps:
Plug in your PC directly to your router. And make sure it is turned on. Also plug in your MODEM into the routers modem port.
On your computer open up Internet Explorer. Then in the address box type in: routerlogin, net
User: admin Pass: password
if password for the password does not work then just leave the box blank. Then just complete the steps.
If this works or if you need help then PLEASE email me:
pmt47@comcast.net
email me wither it works or not!

Forgot password for my netgear range expander

Reset it and reconfigure it. You need to know the configuration of your wireless router to make your range expander work again. Can you still connect to the Internet without the range expander?

Issue with router and ethernet cables

I imagine you reset/unplugged all of your routers, switches, and computers, starting with your modem, then router, and then each system?

There is a setup disk that need to be used to program your router with the ISP settings, passwords, and protocols for port forwarding, etc. I imagine you tried that.

Did you try all of your cables to make sure they weren't defective?

If you tried these, and the problem persists, the issue is a defective router. By default, the unit should transmit a wireless signal, and be ready to act as a routing switch for your other systems.

Connecting a router to a gateway

Sure, you just need to change the ip address of the Rangemax. Netgear usually uses 192.168.0.1 for their router ip addresses. Plug the ethernet cable from your PC into the Rangemax. Open a web browser and put 192.168.0.1 into the address bar. You should reach the home page of the Rangemax. Change it's ip address to 192.168.0.2 and save.

Run an ethernet cable from one of the four ports in your Netgear gateway to the internet in port on your Rangemax and all should be well.

Netgear kwgr614 does not connect

Hi - dlund - is this a new router? If so, did you use the disk and follow the instructions? ( sorry, I have to ask?) Assuming everything is connected correctly, what's your machine make and model#? If it's a laptop is it a card you plugged in or did it come installed? Try this: Unplug your modem and router. After about 60 seconds plug in your modem. When all the lights come on(except the activity light) ,plug in your router. Give it ten seconds and try it. Also, is your router protected by a WPA or WEP key? Try these things, answer these questions, let me know. Thanks.

Jeff
