You could be getting this problem if using refilled inkjet cartridge. Try replacing cartridge and see if message clears.

I suggest you run the 'Tap 10' diagnostic test pattern for your HP PS 2600 series printer model...this will display the electrical health of the ink cartridges and confirm that your printer is operational (I am guessing one of the ink cartridge control lines is open).

HP2610 will not print. Getting "remove and check cartridge..."


I just had this same problem (cartridge on left). Something had broken that was holding the little metal wire in place--the one that sticks out along the bottom where your cartridge goes but apparently moves to the side when you install the cartridge. My guess is that this wire may make some sort of electrical connection that indicates when the cartridge is all the way it (if it doesn't move--or if it is broken--it doesn't make the connection and it thinks something is wrong with the way the cartridge is installed. So I used a strip of tape to hold the wire in place on the side of the cartridge compartment (it had been loose and flopping around), and it works fine now.

I keep getting check cartiridge on the right on my 2610 all in one hp printer


open the top cover and remove both cartridge.check the cartridge contact in the carrage block for any damege.

I cannot get my new black print cartridge to align properly. I am using the HP Photosmart 2610 all-in-one device.


I bought a new ink cartridge which will print well. But the alignment still does not work for some reason. The printer screen says to "check the device instructions" whatever that means. i am willing to continue to use the printer as is unless you have a simple solution. Thanks Gerald Lord

I changed the black ink cartridge in my printer with an appropriate hp product. I am not able to insert the cartridge correctly in the system. It constantly reads, remove and receck cartridge on right. I have purchased two ink cartridges at this time. Do you think the printer is broken? Please respond.

New black print cartridge not working


I only use refill HP inks. When the cartridge prints gray instead of sharp black it means the ink well is clogged. Yes, that can happen on a new cartridge. Sometimes it happens when they put too much ink in the cartridge, or even heat can make it not work. Also streaking black lines is the problem of the ink not coming out properly. Easiest thing to do is go to a refill station like Cartridge World and have them test it or clean it out. You can also make sure the printer, not the cartridge is clean. Ink builds up an pools. Get some Q-Tips and clean up all that spilled ink. Sometimes in the software it says you can clean the print head, do that too.
