Question about Kenwood KDC-MP438U Car CD/ MP3 Player

1 Answer

I have an old Chevy and I'm trying to hook up my Kenwood kdc-138 stereo. I have the red wire connect to the red ignition wire and black wire to ground. I have the yellow wire hokoed up to the ignition also. Here the problem. My car only has two rear speakers. Each speaker has one wire only. I hooked the green and purple rear speaker wires coming from the unit to the rear speaker wires and I don't get any sound. How can I connect the rear speakers and get sound. Thanks

The fact that your speakers have only one wire, indicates that they are the old negative ground type. You will have to buy new speakers, or try and connect the negative wires of your speaker wires from the radio to the car body (chassis) and try that. Normally you will get a bit of static when you start your engine

How to install a Kenwood kdc 138 in a 1992 Ford Escort LX?

if its anything like my 92 ranger you take the dash apart around the radio and the stereo should unscrew, in my ranger the new cd player went in without any extra harness as it was the same size as the stock, if not you can but harnesses to go where your old stereo did, to connect the speakers you can buy a ford wiring harness from walmart or any store with an audio department. these plug in to your vehicles wiring harness so you don't have to cut it out, after that you simply match colours from the wires of the new cd player to the wiring harness

My 1986 chevy had an after market stereo and no plug, just naked wires. Re: 1986 chevy-kenwood kdc-mp242

on the 1986 chevy coming out the ignitiion wire is grey the battery wire is yellow and the ground is black. On the radio the ignition wire is red the battery is yellow and the ground is black. I found the info on the truck in an old repair manual and the info for the radio in the paperwork that came with it. Anyway once you hook these three then you can test to see which speaker wires go to whick speakers. Take any two sp. wires from the truck and hook them up to any speaker wires on th radio and see whick speakers play. For me, I looked behind my seat and the wires were showing. yellow + and yellow/brown -RL. Light blue+ and dark blue - RR.

Kenwood KDC-138: Removed Old stereo, installed new KDC-138, I'm getting power to the plug that plugs into the back of the unit & fuse is good. I've tried pushing the reset button. Nothing comes up on...

do you have power at both supplys on the wire harness?( red and yellow) red wire will have power with the key on. Also make sure your ground is hooked up right.
