You will need the three restore cd's the computer came with!
put the 1st of the three restore CD's into the machine. then turn the computer off, wait a sec. and then turn it back on, with the restore disk in the machine. If you had an issue like I did, it wouldn't let me even run anykind of safe mode. I had to system restore off of the disk only. It will tell you that, You will lose everything off of C: drive. you just have to do it, if you want a working computer again. once the cd runs, it will do it all. you will have to sit there and wait to put in the next disk as the program asks. hope this helps others with emachines!

You should be able to have the system restore cd/dvd, you should boot from that cd/dvd to be able to recover your pc from the factory default

CTRL + F11 Doesnt work on my Dell?

Do you get a prompt to press CTRL F11 at startup?
What prompts do you get? You should be prompted to enter setup or hit F12 (I think) for boot options. If you are not prompted to enter system recovery, then you might be out of luck.
If the computer was refurbished, it is possible that the previous owner reformatted the drive and wiped out the recovery partition.

The question I would ask is why are you trying to do a system recovery?
Can't you just uninstall the stuff you don't want?

I have the BSOD. i went to safe mode and the list of drivers came up but nothing happened afterwards. Just stay on list

OK try this, when dell screen comes up on keyboard hit CTRL+ F11 twice only then you will see Dell pc restore by Symantec.Hit on restore and hit on i agree and select the option Restore the pc to Dell factory settings and then it will restore the pc
Otherwise, you will have to use a Windows DVD and boot on it. Perform a "Repair" Install. OR if that will not work, reformat and reinstall.

Dell computer system restore control F11

Dells do not have the 'control' F11 function to recover the OS, you need to boot it from a 'recovery CD', if you do not have one, go to dell.com and you can ask for a copy, they will ask you for the service tag of your computer (have it handly).

Mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped working on Dell b110 desktop

Disconnect external peripherials except keyboard and mouse .Disconnect the power cable.Hold the power button for 10 seconds to drain flea power.Reconnect the power cable and turn on the computer When the blue DELL™ logo appears, press immediately. In bios there is option for Function key F9 or F10 probably to reset to defaults.SAve and exit and restart the system .Then try to use the PC restore feature on dell. check http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim1100/en/SM/syssetup.htm#wp1055545

Good Luck.

Factory Restore

Hi,

Have you tried using another keyboard? if that doesnt work, try hitting the pause/break button on your keyboard and you should notice that your screen will be stuck on the dell logo with the bar going across, once you notice that hold down ctrl and hit f11. that should work..

Let me know what happens, alright?

Dell 4600 desktop PC

turn on your computer and when you see the dell splash screen hit the ctrl key and f11 key and see if you get to see the symantec restore message. if you do see it you can restore your pc to its factory default. if after doing that nothing happens try to restart your computer and when you get to see the dell splash screen pressd f8 5 to 6 times until you get to see the advance boot menu and see whether repair my computer is one of the selection if it is select it and choose restore you pc to factory default. if nothing appears on the advance boot menu of repair my computer. the only option is to do a clean reinstall of your operating system
