Question about Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Camera

Large movie download on XP

I cannot transfer movies larger than 400MB or so from the SD1000 to my Windows XP computer. It works fine on a Mac under iPhoto, but on the PC it starts the transfer and stops after a while, leaving a size 0 file in the target folder. I have 25GB of available space on the disk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't transfer a 1.2 gig avi file from my sd1000 to either my XP desktop or notebook. I can pull the SD card and copy via a card reader.

I was able to pull video (.avi) files off sd1100 one at a time, all except the largest 215mb .avi file. It gives me that 0 mb copy.

Use a card reader like that guy did, else make sure battery is 100% also make sure you have it plugged into the back USB ports as well as unplugging any other usb devices just in case it's lack of power

How to Watch iTunes Movies on Windows Phones and Tablets?

For many Windows Phone or tablet users, they have difficulties to watch their purchased or rented iTunes movies/TV shows on their mobile devices. Because all iTunes movies and TV shows, music videos are encrypted by Fair play DRM protection, we can't play the iTunes downloaded videos on any Non-Apple devices.

What can we do if we want to enjoy the iTunes movies on Windows phone and tablets?

The first thing we should do is removing the iTunes DRM protection. TunesKit DRM Media Converter for Mac ( http://www.tuneskit.com )is a strongly recommended application to help us get rid of the Fair Play DRM protection from iTunes movies.

Step 1. Download and install TunesKit for Mac

http://www.tuneskit.com/TunesKitforMac.dmg

This app works with Mac OSX 10.8 or later and the newest iTunes.

Step 2. Add iTunes movies to TunesKit
Click "Add Files" button, then you can select the iTunes movies from iTunes library directly.

Step 3. Start removing DRM protection from iTunes M4V Videos

Click "Convert" button to start removing DRM protection from iTunes movies.

After conversion finished, you will get the iTunes movies encoded as MP4 format with DRM free. Now you are free to transfer the iTunes movies to Windows phones and tablets.

CANON SD1000 can't TURN vertical downloaded video into horizontal

If you have windows movie maker (its part of the default installation of windows XP) you can use the rotate filter in the video effects tools.
Import your video into movie maker and select "Video Effects" under tools.  Scroll through the various effects until you find the "rotate 90".  Apply the effect and save the video.
I hope this helps!

Cannot copy large files onto my WD passport

Your drive is probably in FAT32 format.  FAT32 has a 4GB file limit that is why your 5GB movie isn't saving.  You will have to format the drive in Mac OS file format (HFS) using Disk Utility.
Unfortunately once its in Mac format the drive will not be recognized by windows PCs.  What I do is have a program called macdrive installed on my windows computers so that they can access mac format hard drives.
i hope this helps!

I have the Canon PowerShot SD600 and took pictures and filmed movies on my camera. The pictures and small movies downloaded but the larger ones won't download. Suggestions?

I am having the same problem with my Powershot A560. I have transferred several smaller movies to my computer in the past, but I have a large one (230MB) that results in the camera disconnecting and giving an I/O error, even though I have used a couple different types of software to try to download this.

Can't download large movie files to iphoto : (

i found the answer to my own question above and thought i'd share.

rather than iphoto, you can use "image capture," which is software that comes standard with the mac.

-Turn on your camera, and connect it to your computer with the cable that came with it.
-Close iPhoto if it opens automatically. Open Image Capture (Applications folder).
-Click Download Some to choose specific items to transfer, or click Download All to transfer all items.
If you click Download Some, choose the items to transfer, and click Download.

By default, Image Capture transfers still images to your Pictures folder, video files to your Movies folder, and music files to your Music folder. To choose another folder, choose Other from the Download To pop-up menu, then click Download Some or Download All.

How to download the movies in Apple Ipod. There is any softward for this, please tell me about this?

Are you on Mac or PC? You can buy and purchase movies through iTunes. Video LAN Client (VLC) can also convert some video files to the .mp4 spec of H264 as well.

Apple Quicktime Pro ($30) can also export with settings directly for the iPod or AppleTV

Please explain further.

Your video must be at least 640 x 480 pixels in dimensions. Any larger I believe it will not transfer.

Connecting to computer

you both need to use a firewirecable to download video-not usb-the camcorders always have a 4 pin connection and you will need a 6 pin on other end for mac or a 4 pin for window laptops-also use 6 pin for most desktops-when buying cable ask for 4 to 4 or 4 to 6 pin firewirecable-imovie should be fine in windows use movie maker which is in windows already under program menu-says dv on cam to connect-make sure you have firewire port on computer also-if not add a card to include one
