I have a samsung 42" rear projection HD TV. In the middle of the screen it goes downward several inches. It makes it really hard to watch! Duh! Do you know what part I need and whether it is a fairly easy fix.
Can you post a pic of what the screen looks like when its doing this, and is it constantly like this at all times? let me know I should be able to help you.

You have 2 distinct problems that should be addressed separately. Please repost the Samsung problem. I will address the Sony problem here.
If the "shadow" makes the picture seem somewhat of a 3D one, the problem is with the convergence circuit. This could be as simple as bad connections on the pins of the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder and would like to attempt the repair, update this and I'll provide more details and instructions.
