Hi.

Check if the player has a lock switch on one side. In that case use the switch to unlock the player.

If there is no lock switch, then the player may need formatting. Before formatting , try performing the operations here: iLo Mp3 Player Help is Here.

In some case the problem depends on the computer. In that case you find indications here: ILO Write protected - FixYa

It is not an MP3 player, it is a USB stick and I cannot format it as it is write protected, so I need to remove write protection.

    Hi.

Check if the USB stick has a lock switch on one side. If there is no lock switch, then the problem depends on the computer.

Here is an utility to format a protected usb stick.

If that does not work go to run->Type Regedit->search " StorageDevicePolicies" -->
open Write Protected File and and change the value into " 0 ", click ~OK, then unplug and connect back USB memory stick.

Repair_v2.9.1.1 came up with an error message - cannot find flash drive.

Repair_v2.9.1.1does not work with all the USB drives in commerce. Before attempting anything else, ensure that the problem is not the computer. Try connecting or formatting the USB on a different computer.

OK I will try it on another computer.

Tried another computer and still says it cannot find the flash drive. The computer recognises the flash drive ok.

Write protection

Write protection means you can view the information stored in it but you can't write and transfer the information to it.
For removing the write protection follow the below mentioned steps:
1. Right click on the USB stick
2. Go to properties and uncheck the read only or write only protection option.

Usually usb sticks don't have a write protect option. But some models that do have that option. Look for a small switch on your usb stick.

The adapter has a tiny switch on the side opposite the notch near the pins.
The switch needs to be towards the pins, not away from them.
