this usually helps your norton whenever auto protect is down.
after running intelligent updater, you can try to run n360s liveupdate... this shopuld do it...

There are several virii "in the wild" (out there) that will disable NAV (Norton Antivirus (The antivirus component of your Norton 26)) autoprotect.
If you cannot get Norton 360 autoprotect to remain enabled, you could have picked up a virus.
1st, however, make sure that the user profile you are logged into has Administrator rights. If you don't know how to do this, just let us know. If you are the only user, then, chances are, you have Administrator privileges.
If the user profile you are in is not an Administrator, log out then back in as one of the Administrator profiles. Then see if you can get NAV autoprotect enabled again.
If you still cannot get autoprotect enabled, then, you may have picked up a virus. At the very least, we need to rule that possibility out.
There are some web sites that you can navigate to that will perform a free AV scan of your hard disk.
Please, run an AV scan of your hard disk at one or more of these sites. Then post back here and let us know the results. We'll continue on (if your issue isn't resolved) w/ helping you to resolve this issue.
Kaspersky is a very good AV. HERE is their online AV scanner.
eTrust is another good AV. HERE is their online AV scanner.
Trend-Micro is another source for online AV scanning. You can find their scanner HERE.

First of all, restart the computer if you haven't. If that doesn't work, reinstall the program. If it still won't work, well let's wait until you've reinstalled to make any further recommendations.
