Question about Pentair Minimax Ch 250,000 Btu Natural Gas Pool Heater Millivolt Ignition
I think that my pentair minimax 200 is adding copper to my above ground pool which is coating my pool DE filter bright blue. Chemicals aren't doing the trick for me. Has my heater been ruined or a part maybe?
It sounds like copper is the culprit. This usually happens from dropping the pH too low. You may have added too much acid. Heavy use of low grade algaecides can cause this as well. One last thing to check and make sure your not adding chlorine tablets in the skimmer. This will also damage the exchanger in the heater causing blueing. You may want to try a sequestering or chelating agent. Ask about it at your local pool supply.
