Is the boot sequence going through, ie, can you hear the hard disk thrashing when you bootup. If boot sequence seems to be OK then the problem might be the RAM.

If you have more than one RAM module, then just put in one at the first slot and try. If no change, then try the other one.

If only one RAM module, then you may have to try replacing it to see if there is any difference.

Hi and sorry to have bother you......I have my computer connected to TV monitor.... Before it would show the two screen, the comp and the tv. I went to hit the number lock and i hit the Scr LK button by...

On laptops both the laptop LCD screen and the external video port can be toggled to show laptop LCD, external vodeo and bothe laptop LCD and external video.
You need to press and hold down the Fn key and one of the function keys that has the monitor symbol, repeated pressing this function key will toggle the video outputs.
I cannot advise you which function key works with your laptop as they vary between different laptop manufacturers.

My Studio xps 7100 often freezes on startup. Also when coming out of sleep mode or when trying to start up, the monitor will not display picture. I can solve this problem by turning off the computer,...

Sometimes hanging on startup is caused by a network adapter hanging renewing a lease, this can be caused by corrupt drivers, not allowing the adapter to wake up, you could try updating those with the latest from the Manafacturers rather than from Dell... ie Broadcom or Intel depending upon your adapter.

I hope this helps, if you require further advice please ask, if this solves the problem please can you rate my answer.

The display is shrinked vertcally in the centre of my LG 915 monitor. plz help me out. Thanks

Hi nasirallahdi ,

If your display is shrinked vertically , please follow the below steps :-

  1. Check the settings button on your monitor , when you press the button you have multiple options coming up which includes reset option.
  2. Go to the reset option and select ok , so that your monitor is reset.
  3. If this does not solve your problem then it could be because of a incorrect resolution being set in your desktop properties , in the settings tab.
  4. To change the resolution settings you need to go to the display settings by finding the option on the desktop via right click and you can try changing the resolution and see if things get ok.
  5. If still the problem persists , then it could be a hardware fault which you need to get repaired via the manufacturer's warranty limit , if it has expired you will be charged for it.
  6. Most probably the problem is with the incorrect settings in the monitor panel , and i believe after you reset your monitor via the monitor panel , things would be alright hopefully.
Hope this helps ...:)

No signal on monitor

Do you have another monitor to test your computer? Looks like a surge went into the computer display and damaged the video card.
