Always remember the threads are reverse on a gas cylinder and you are likely tightening this joint if your going the wrong way. some also have a quick disconnect and are like an air chuck and should be removed this way.

This can sometimes happen if the propane tank runs empty or the unit has been setting for some time.
It is typically the regulator is stuck and will not allow gas to pass through the regulator.
You may need to clean your regulator with some WD-40 or sometimes just tapping on the regulator several time with allow the diaphragm to start working again.

Need to purchase replacement regulator/valve (one piece) for patio caddie grill??

If what you're looking for is the Regulator/Tank Hose Assembly, you can purchase that for any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills. They are pretty much a universal fii, but be sure to take your old one with you for comparison purposes of the hose length. A little longer is ok, but shorter is not.

If that's not what you're looking for, you can purchase replacement parts directly form Char-Broil.

Grill is one old and won't light. There is no gas coming from the tank to the grill. Is it the regulator?

age of the grill is irrelevant, i am old and i still can do few thingzzzz...

i assume that your regulator is connected directly to the bottle, then hose to your bottle, then hose is connected to the regulator and other end to the grill?

or it is bottle, hose, regulator, grill?

you need to follow the path regardless, be outside, light breeze is better, no open flame in at least 20m (yards) radius in any direction.

1. close gas bottle/tank
2. disconnect, everything from the bottle
3. crack open tank valve and hear if gas is escaping, close valve back
4. connect regulator to the bottle and again crack open the valve, hear if you have esacping gas, allow actually whiff of gas against your cheek or wetted finger to establish the flow. close the valve
5. connect hose to the regulator (procedure is reversed if first is hose and then regulator), crack open the valve, hear for escaping gas, check against wetted finger and cheek if there is flow, close the valve
6. connect your grill open all valves on it and open valve on the tank/bottle. allow free flow for about 30sec, close valves on grill. vent grill for about two minutes, try to ignite any of the burners. if burner ignite, you solved the problem, if they do not, and you did have flow on all previous stages, close bottle valve, disconnect everything from grill, clean grill valves and nozzles (burner have nozzle inside!), reconnect and vent again, try ignite, if ignition occures, you solve the problem, if not, then you are due for new grill...

if at any stage you do not have gas flow, this meant that this particular piece of equipment is in trouble, this particular piece of equipment need then repair or replacement, under no circumstance pull apart the reducer! NO OPEN FLAME DURING TESTING!!!

No gas flow

Ensure that your hose, regulator, and control assembly are all clear of debris and that the orifice is not plugged.

I have a Gasmate patio heater ph 900 that won't ignite

Before you take it apart, try replacing the hose and regulator, easy to do and inexpensive. If that does not work, you will need to take the heater apart to get to the pilot orifice. The orifice is very small and easy to get clogged up. If the igniter sparks, then it is most likely a gas flow problem.

The gas bottle is on and but there is no gas getting to to the patio heater.

regulator maybe frozen if its cold there. if so take it off and thaw it out inside for awhile, no hot water om it only creates more issues later!! if you are hooking it to a BBQ tank that has a new Qcc1 valve you have toopen the valve on the tank very slow when you have it hooked up or it slugs off. hope this helps, you also may have a blocked pilot orifice or other issues hard to fix without seeing it and little info..

Coleman 5040 Patio Heater w/ Light - Light works, Heater does not

BE VERY CAREFUL sticking matches in any propane appliance! With the gas OFF see if you can physically see the spark when you push the ignitor, if yes, the problem may be the regulator or bottle pressure the only test i am aware of for the regulator is replacement.

There must be a blockage in the hose and regulator or your large tank may be checking and not allowing the unit to stay lit. Remove the large bottle. Let the gas line equalize for about 30 seconds and then reattach the bottle. Very slowly, open the knob on the large tank and I mean very slowly. Did I say open it slowly. The new OPD propane tanks often have a very touchie excess control valve that won't allow enough gas through if opened too rapidly. Now tray and light the heater. If you still experience the same, get a technician involved so they can inspect the gas pressure.
