Dell Inspiron One 19 Black screen after dell logo boot up

Sounds like you have a video driver issue. See if you can boot from your "Dell Resource" CD or any other bootable CD disk. Power on the computer and tap the F12 key to get to the "Boot Selection Menu". Insert the "Resource CD" into the CD-ROM drive. Select "Boot from CD/DVD drive" from the selection menu. If the computer boots from the CD drive then you Operating System Software is the problem.

Dvd r/rw on Dell E1705 laptop computer quit playing cds and dvds. Makes grinding start up noise but does not play

Hi,
Your system comes with on-board diagnostics. Run the diagnostics to check if the problem is with the drive or windows.

To run the diagnostics follow the steps below
1. Shutdown the system
2. Press the Fn+Power button together
3. The screen will display color screens
4. Follow the prompts until it takes you to advanced diagnostics
5. Do a custom test on the optical drive.

If you are unable to run the diagnostics
1. Find the dell resource cd that came with the system
2. Insert the cd in and restart the computer
3. At the Dell logo screen press the f12 slowly 5 times
4. Select boot from cd/dvd drive
5. Press any key to boot from cd .... message appears press enter
6. If the system starts from the cd .. this would mean the drive is ok

pOst back what were the diagnosis
Thanks

My eurocom wont boot pass bio screens

Hi

few possible problems:

The hard drive is not detected or not working
Or the operating system is corrupt or missing
Or the computer is not set to boot from the hard drive.

if not then the computer is not set to start up from a cd, you can either enter the setup / bios to change that setting OR right when you power up the computer look at the screen it will say what button to press in order to enter bios thats one way to solve the problem but look for Boot menu, it will very likely be button F12 or similiar, it should say on the screen when you power on.

if it doesnt, then you need to go into the bios and change the boot order so that the computer starts from the CD first.

after that you should be able to start from the cd and install the OS (Operating system, eg.Windows)

heres some info on how to work the bios: http://www.whitecanyon.com/how-to-change-boot-order.php

Change the boot order so its CD ROM, optionally FLoppy drive here if your laptop has one of those, then Hard drive.

save and exit the bios, use the above link to get info on how to work the bios.

Test and see if the computer starts up normally, if not then you need to use the windows installation cd to install windows into the computer again.

if you get any errors or problems on installing windows let me know.

Power cable

If the system is posting and you can access the BIOS, then the ac adapter is probably giving the system enough power. Remove the HDD, see if the Clicking goes away and see if the system will boot to a WIndows XP CD with the HDD removed. (Most clicking issues in a portable are drive related.

If the system will post and boot to a CD with the HDD removed, then most likely the HDD is bad and will need to be replaced.

If the noise and boot problem do not change, then I'd see if the system runs normally with a Dell power adapter next.
