Yep, after researching more, it seems like your motherboard is one of those that needs the memory to be alternated strangely, but actually that's to make sure that it don't go into dual-channel mode (I think, not sure since I haven't seen a picture of the board). The thing I should have asked earlier is, do you have two pairs of different colored slots? You're supposed to put the pairs in the same colored slots, even if they alternate.

No key board in bios

Try hooking up a USB keyboard and seeing if it works.

If it does work, the keyboard on the laptop may need to be replaced, but I would first check if the cables are plugged in securely.

This can be tedious to do, but the cabling for laptop keyboards are very finicky, and the slightest bump while installing a keyboard can dislodge the connection enough that you might get this error message.

If this is the case when you try to boot the PC completely the POST process may stop saying it cannot detect a keyboard.

If you mean specifically that the keyboard doesn't work while in the BIOS, but works everywhere else such as in windows.

You may need to install a BIOS update for the laptop mainboard.

Checking the manufacturer's site for the most recent BIOS update might fix the no keyboard in BIOS issue.

BIOS updates are not for the faint of heart, they sometimes can be intimidating to do; And you will want to take some caution when doing so.

What are the instructions for flashing BIOS?

Hello use auto detect here to find the right mainboard:

http://support.asus.com/download/options.aspx?SLanguage=en

Download asus update, this is the easyest program to upgrade the bios, while windows is running.

Install first asus update:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/ASUS-Update-Utility.shtml

When the mainboard is found, select download, and select your windows system.
Open the bios folder, and download the latest bios version.
Unzip the bios file.
Run asus update, and select update bios from file, and select the bios file, in the folder you just have downloaded ( the bin file )

Be very carefull when you upgrade the bios, because a power loss will damage the mainboard, while the upgrade process is running.

You also have to setup the bios settings, when the job is done.
You have to select F1 or F2 to enter the settings.

If any doubt download the manual.

Good luck

I want to install a new bios for my memory but I don't find the update, my actually version is the v6.0 (7/19/06). It's a phoenix awards bios please help me :'(

Correction the bios update is for the Mainboard or motherboard for a PC. It not for the "memory"? To update your Bios you have to to know the precisely the model/brand of your mainboard before you can download the new bios file needed for the update from the manufacturer site.

There are precautions you need to heed before doing a bios update for the mainboard. In case of any eventualities or mistakes you made may render the mainboard useless!! If you are not 100% sure how to do it, get some professional help.

If you Mainboard is running ie with no errors!, it is advisable not to do the bios update unless recommended by the OEM manufacturer or you need to run a new function from the mainboard which is not included in the old bios.

Hope this helps.

Want to updat bios for xp

Operating system doesn't have an effect on the bios update process. Simply you can go online and search for your motherboard's website for BIOS flash utility, and new bios files. And through that website, you can follow the instructed steps and update your BIOS. (For example: Asus Mainboard Model P5GD1 Pro -> Go to Asus international website and select your mainboard model, you can find the tools and updates related with your particular model there). You just have to look up for your mainboard's complete brand and model name first.

Notebook heating problem(urgent help)

You bios versions start at f.03,f.04,f.05, f.07, f.08,,,

The date and version that you posted does not match and bios version for your model.

The only reason you update a bios is if it falls under the problems
listed for the new bios to correct.

Say your lap came with f.05, the only reason you would update to f.07 is because you had a graphic error, that the new update fixed.

The link below is the page for your drivers, if you look at bios,it shows the newest,if you click on version, you will see all the ones
that where made.

You should double check to make sure that you have the right bios version.

BIOS update

1. Check your PC or motherboard manufacture for BIOS upgrade and upgrade BIOS firmware.
2. Try to start your PC in a safe mode by pressing F8 before windows starts. Then select a safe mode with or without network support.
3. If your computer starts in the safe mode, check if your hard drive is not full or close to full. If it is close to full you need to remove some data from your disk. Try to remove temporary files and clear your Recycle Bin. Restart your computer.
4. You might run low on your memory. If your PC doesn't have enough physical memory, windows is creating virtual memory by using space from your hard drive.
5. If neither solution works, try to run a "CHKDSK C: /R" from recovery console.

Good luck!!!
