Connecting to yahoo in general and my user ID/password

I am having problem to log-on to Yahoo in general and mor so to my yahoo account. The message that I am getting is "Internet explorer cannot display the webpage". I tried to change my password many times but it still keeps on giving me the same message. I got a new account on gmail and have no problem loging to gmail. I want to keep my yahoo account since my contacts are familiar with my Yahoo ID. I am expecting important emails through my Yahoo address. Does it have to do with my user ID? I don't want to change that either since my contacts are familiar with that Yahoo ID. Please help!

My Yahoo address is b_kebede.

Thank you in advance

If the problem is with the browser, try downloading Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. I have Firefox and Yahoo Mail works much better and faster with it. If you try to change your password too many times, it will lock your mail account for a certain amount of time, so watch out. It doesn't sound like a problem with your particular mail account, it sounds like Internet Explorer just can't open the Yahoo site for whatever reason.

Yahoo.com tells me that my password has expired. What do I need to do?

If you ever find yourself with a locked Yahoo account, it's likely due to multiple incorrect password attempts.

As a security measure, Yahoo's email and chat client servers automatically lock your account to prevent unauthorized access after there have been multiple invalid password entries.

The ID Lock security measure safeguards a Yahoo account from unauthorized users who try to access your account without permission.Cause

After multiple incorrect password entries to a Yahoo account, the server automatically sets a lock on it.
This happens because every time a Yahoo Account holder logs into his account, he's logged in with a cookie.

A cookie is an information packet that proves you are the valid account holder.
However, when a person tries to access an account with many failed attempts, the cookies expires, triggering the ID lock on the account.
24-Hour Wait

A Yahoo account holder must wait up to 24 hours before accessing the account again.
The lock on the account expires within 24 hours from the time the account was locked.

Unlock Using Another Server Since Yahoo! has many servers around the world, a user can log into his account by visiting a different Yahoo server address. (See Below.)
http://thingsaboutcomputer.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-unlock-yahoo-when-account-is.html

Copy and paste a Yahoo! server URL into the address bar of your Internet browser to access the website.
Enter the Yahoo! ID and password in their respective fields, and click on "Log in" to access your yahoo account.
Avoid Yahoo Account Locks
To prevent future Yahoo! account locks, a user should limit the number of times he tries to enter a password.

If an account holder has forgotten his password, he should use the "Forgot Passsword" feature to reset the password.

Locked out of my account

"Ymail," a division of Yahoo!, is not the same as the Yahoo! email service.
The main different revolves around the URL at the end of your email address.
Instead of "@yahoo.com" these addresses are written as "@ymail.com."
This slight variation might confuse you about how to log into your Ymail account.
The login instructions are similar to that of Yahoo! mail. Additionally, you can recover your ID or password if you have forgotten it.

Visit the Yahoo! login page by typing "ymail.com" into the URL bar.
This takes you to both the Yahoo! email sign in and the Ymail sign in.
Type your username into the "Yahoo! ID" box.
This is the part of your email address that comes before "@ymail.com."
Type in your password.
If your password doesn't work, or you don't remember it, choose the blue "I Can't Access My Account" from the bottom of the sign in box.
Choose the option that describes your situation best. Options include: "I Forgot My Password", "My Password Doesn't Work", "I Forgot My Yahoo! ID" and "My Account May Have Been Compromised". Press "Next."
Follow the on-screen directions to set a new password or recover your ID.

One of the drawbacks of free email services is that they're easy to forget you have an account. Yahoo! Mail is just one of those free email services.
Say a few months go by, you've turned your attentions elsewhere, but you remembered you have a Yahoo! account and you want to check your email.
But after you log in, it informs you that your Yahoo! Mail is no longer active. What do you do?

Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account as usual.
A message will appear that says your account has been deactivated due to inactivity.
Reactivate your Yahoo! Mail by clicking on the "Reactivate Your Yahoo! Mail address" link that is located at the bottom of the page.
Sign into your account at least once a month to avoid automatic deactivation by Yahoo! in the future.

Forgotten password

You should change your Yahoo! Messenger password for security purposes. Pick a password that only you can remember, but one that's unique so that no one else figures it out.

Instructions

1.Click on the Yahoo! Messenger icon found on your computer desktop, or enter the program from the Yahoo! home page. Log in to Yahoo! Messenger with your user ID and current password. Click the "Yahoo! Messenger" link when the Yahoo! Messenger window opens.

2.Go to "My Account Info." This will take you to the Yahoo! Messenger account information page.

3.Find the link that reads "Change Password." Type your old password into the first field, then type a different password into the new password field.

4.Enter your new Yahoo! Messenger password into the next form field to confirm it. Save the new password into your Yahoo! Messenger account.

5.Log out of Yahoo! Messenger, then log in again. Test your account by entering your user ID and new password.

I want to mak a new yahoo ID,pls help me.

Yahoo! Messenger is a popular Internet instant messenger service. Users who cannot log in to their existing account or wish to change to a new account may register a new account for free by visiting the Yahoo! homepage.

Recovery

If you have lost your account's password, you may still be able to use your existing account. Yahoo! has a password recovery system to help you change your password, but you must be able to remember the answers to the security questions you provided when the account was created.
New ID

If you need a new Yahoo! Messenger ID, visit the Yahoo! homepage and click the "Sign Up" link at the top of the page. Follow the steps and you will have a Yahoo! ID once you finish. Use the same log-in information for the Yahoo! Messenger program.
Precaution

Always remember your Yahoo! Messenger ID to avoid having to register multiple accounts. If you fear you may end up forgetting it, you may want to write it down on a piece of paper and put it in a safe spot.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya.

My yahoo account has been locked How can i open please help me?

This message is seen when an attempt to login has failed multiple time. As a security measure, your account has been locked to prevent unauthorized users from being able to log in to it. If you have not recently tried to log in, this is not necessarily a cause for concern. Another Yahoo! user may have mistakenly used your ID when attempting to log in to their own account.

The lock on your account will expire 24 hours after it was first locked. Don't worry-the lockout time period won't reset each time you try to sign in while the account is still locked. You can try to sign in again after the lockout time has expired. Note: Yahoo! is unable to provide you with the exact time that your account was locked or when it will be unlocked.

If you are still unable to sign in with your new password, please see the password problems help page for some common reasons why you are seeing the "Invalid Password" error.

Are you using an old version of Internet Explorer? You might need to update your browser to a newer version. You could also consider going with other alternative browsers such as Firefox or Chrome.

Old versions of Internet Explorer has a lot of security issues, so it's pretty important to keep yourself updated on the newest version, or just stop using Internet Explorer and move to a different web browser.
