The ribbon connecting your screen to your motherboard is loose, disassemble the laptop and ensure the cable is connected correctly (it should be easy to spot, it will be the only one going to the screen) if it isnt this then the cable may be damaged from all the opening and closing. If this is the case then remove the canle and replace it. Take it along to your local computer repair store or search for the part on the internet.

Good luck

You will need convergence work to this unit. Not cheap.(Not recommended for DIY unless already experienced in this type work). Might contact a local servicer experienced with Toshiba & see if they can give you a quote over the phone. Be sure you are sitting.
This is probably a good time to consider entering the 21st century & look at LCD or LED flat screens.

Browser open, background screen (top of screen) flashes every few seconds. Laptop is about 3 months old. When typing on any app or online, if it flashes during the typing then it will skip the letter typed...

It is not a memory issue. Looks like a malicious script or setting issue. Here is what you can do, open the Internet Explorer and press F11, now you should see a full screen of the browser. Check if the screen is still flashing?

Thanks!

Got a handmedown Olympus Camedia C-5000 Zoom digital camera from a visiting nephew from Sydney sans its manual. Am an old hand with analog SLRs but these digital types seem a bit intimidating with all its...

Nice HandmeDown - I checked Amazon for review guide and they had 1854 positive reviews.
The Button next to the black screen is the master button that switches from mode to mode .. like from the screen to the viewfinder (that's above the black screen) with 2 lights.
If this is your first digi camera then it's a big jump. The camera will need a Memory card (unless your nephew from Sydney left that as well) - the batteries will need a charger .
Try this link below (cut & paste) into your search engine and get a manual to read -- http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/download/manual/zoom/man_c5000z_e.pdf
Enjoy - it's a good camera -- Ray

I have a 2001 sony 53' rear projection tv model #KP-53HS30. It seems has a wavy section on the upper left hand corner and lower right hand corner of the screen. All the bulbs are working fine but seems...

Try this. The follow was found on tv-forums dot com by Zyntar...
There is a secret service menu to converge the Sony KP53HS30.
Caution: Be careful, there are many settings that can be tampered with. Some may be hard to undo.
Procedure: (use the remote control for these steps unless noted)
1. Turn TV off with System Off (under flap on remote)
2. Press: Display, 5, Volume +, then Power. If successful, service text will appear on the screen.
3. Use 2 & 5 to select the PJE Category.
4. Press 9 to get to fine convergence adjusting.
5. Press 6 several times to get the convergence screen of choice. I like the grid.
6. Use the remote's arrow keys (joystick), move the brackets around until you have found the area to adjust. Press the center of the joystick to change the bracket from white to a color. Use the joystick to adjust the color. Press 3 to change color to adjust. When done, press center of joystick again.
Note: Try to keep the grid even and squared up.
7. Repeat steps 5 and/or 6 for all parts of the screen that need it.
8. Once done, you need to save your settings. Press: Mute, Enter. Then on the TV, press "Flash Focus"
9. Turn off power.
TV is ready to use.

Hi, there is a very easy soln. to your problem.
When the camera is in shooting mode, just click the multi-selector( the round thing surrounding the OK key). the flash menu will be displayed in the screen. Either choose the auto flash(no.1) or anytimeflash(no.4) mode. the blinking hand will be gone and you will once again have superb photos. relax and enjoy.
